Pregnancy pains - Someone please help, I need some advice

posted 8th Feb '08
I am 18 weeks along VERY close to 19 weeks. I am getting random Bad pains in my upper and lower abdomen. I know that the stretching of the uterus can give you pains... but these are pretty distinct BAD pains that almost make you want to puke. I'm a little worried... Can someone please give me some insight on this?

I'm also having a few random pains in my vagina, sounds weird, or maybe not... but can someone please help me understand what is going on... This is my first child.

Hmm... I get pains, too. I'm only 16 weeks and a few days, but they can be pretty bad sometimes.
But if yours are that bad, you might want to call your doctor, just to make sure it's nothing other than the growing pains.
Another girl posted a similar thread about some pains and I replied with some suggestions that help me. You can go there and check em out so I don't have to retype it all. Here's the link:

And the pains in the vagina... I get em, too. I'm not sure if they're common or not because this is also my first pregnancy, but I don't get them as often as I get the "cramps" in my abdominal region. I'm not sure what to tell you about those because I haven't had a chance to see a doctor yet. Waiting for financial aid and such so my first appt isn't until the 21st. But I'll ask her for the both us and let you know what she says!

I hope the suggestions on the other thread help you. I would still talk to your doctor just to be on the safe side, though.

Feel better soon!!!

Thank you so much for responding. So this is normal? I had mild pains that I thought was the stretching, I'm just hoping they're not early contractions or the Braction contactions? I just don't know how to put it. It seems like the pains just got worse and worse... Did you or do you have these pains?

Thank you so much! I am so happy more people are responding. I have my first sonagram this coming Friday - Can you go on Medicare? You should try, thats rediculous they wont give you medical attention. I am actually out of state with the father's family visiting - so my doctor isn't around for me to talk to and it's late at night. I don't know if she will be in office or not? I'm just really nervous about this.

I get them every once in awhile. But I haven't been alarmed. I just usually decide that I need to just sit down and relax. And usually after awhile they go away.

braxton hicks are like a knot in your tummy...it feels like it gets really hard...then stops....its ok to have normal little crampys and braxton hicks should never be painful, just uncomfortable...

if the cramps ever get consistent, or you see blood...call your ob quick

I couldn't get Medicaid because I just moved here and I don't have all the paperwork I need. I could've gone ahead to see a doctor, but it was gonna cost $500 PER APPOINTMENT! I went to a hospital in my city and filed for their financial aid and they cover all the same stuff Medicaid does. So it's all good. I just have to wait 2 weeks.

Even tho you can't talk to your doctor right now, I would call tomorrow. If she's not there just leave a message. And then I would call again on Monday. Other than that, I wish I had more advice for you.

Good luck with everything! Hope you feel better!

most of the pain could be the growing uterus because your little one is going thru a growth spurt and also the pain you have in your va jay jay well that could be the baby hitting a sore ligament and when the baby moves it hurts down south. If you feel they are more intense then normal pains please call your drs office of go get checked out in the L & D it is better to go thru there then to worry till your next appt you know?
