Heartbeat

I went to the doctor today for my second appt I am 13.5 weeks pregnant ( maybe 12.5 weeks pregnant) and the doctor was unable to hear the baby's heartbeat. I weigh 150lbs and am 5'2 so I have a little extra fluff on my belly. The doctor wants me to go back in 2 weeks so he can try to hear it again and if he can't then he wants to do an internal. Has this happened to anyone else?? I am a little nervous!

yes it happened to me. but i had an emergency u/s the very next morning. everything was fine, just my lil pooper was jumping around sooo much there was no way she couldve heard the heartbeat. my dr said it could also be still be behind ur pubic bone. theres most likely nothing to worry about. i hate that he has you waiting 2wks!!! i only had to wait like 12hrs and i freaked.

they didnt give u an us??? id call and ask for one....im only saying this because if you are 13 weeks...u should be able to hear it. have u heard it before???

No I haven't hear it before. There is chance that I could only be 12 weeks.

My doctor couldn't find the heartbeat with a dopplar until I was 18 weeks or so along. I had a US everytime I went in!

I'm not saying it's common... but it's not unheard of!

I was heavier than you when I got pregnant and we first heard ours at 10.5 weeks. at 13 you should DEFINATELY be able to hear it, i'm suprised he didnt do an u/s. but i agree i would call and request one
