naming your baby after a friend

have any of you ladies ever done it? I'm not pregnant, I'm just wondering
My best friend's name is Amelia Kay, I love her name, and I definitely love her 
I've had best friends before, but Amelia has shown me what a true friendship is like. I'm not pregnant, and don't plan on it for 5-10 more years, but I honestly believe that Amelia and I will be friends for a very very long time. But I don't know what will happen in the future, maybe we wont be friends when/if I fall pregnant when we're older and I wont end up naming my child after her. But as of right now, I'm planning on naming my daughter(if I have one) something with Amelia's first or middle name. Any suggestions for names with either Amelia or Kay in it?

My husband almost named our DS after a friend of his that was KIA when they went to Iraq in 2007 but we stuck with the third (we call him Tré/Trésor now). We will be naming our next DS after him if we have one, though. I love the name Amelia, though.

My daughter is named after a friend. Not really a good friend, I just like her name.

I think it's a good idea as long as you two are still close (obviously. lol) I named my daughter Kiley Jayde Marie. My best friend's middle name is Marie, but so is both my & my SO's mother's middle name, so it worked.

If we have a son his name will be Christopher Rodney after my fiance's best friend who died about ten years ago in a plane crash.

You're 17, I guarantee she won't be your friend in 10 years lol.

I love the name Kiley! but I prefer it to be spelled like Kylie
I once was thinking about giving my future daughter the middle name Michelle, after my other best friend Michelle who I've been best friends with since second grade. but she's screwed me over a lot so I don't want to name my child after her then be stuck with the name if we end up ending our friednship

I have a friend that I've been best friends with since second grade (which is 10 years). and like I said, I don't know what will happen in the future. And I never said I was 100% positive I would use the name, my mind could always change

I like the name anyways though, its pretty! Maybe call her Mia?

Thanks! I love the way I spelled it. I spelled it like it sounds and it ends in 'ley' like my name... When I read 'Kylie' I can't help but say ki-lie, but I don't diss on people who spell it that way, or any other way, because it's not my child and I don't care. lol.

But, I think it's nice to name your baby after your friend (when you have a baby), but I would use either name; Amelia or Kay, as a middle name. Not the first name.

My friend that has a baby named Amelia, she calls her Mia sometimes too.

I call her Amelia because I don't like nick names or shortening of names, but she basically calls her both Amelia and Mia.
