heartbeat

posted 7th Feb '08
Today we went to hear the heartbeat for the first time. At first the doctor kept getting mine, then he found the baby's. i thought i heard it but my own pulse was so loud throughout my body because of my nerves. He said it sounded perfectly normal. i'm a little bummed out because it wasn't like "oh wow, there it is!" It was very quiet and i barely heard it.

How was everbody else's first experience?

omg, the first time i almost cried. it took her no time to find it. and then she found the babys, and mine. it was so cute! you could hear mine, and then the babys. [the babys is a lot faster] i loved it! and then the last time i heard it, it was just a relief lol. i get scared that the doctor wont find it. :[[

well it is still very tiny. its amazing that something so small can have a heartbeat at all. it will get stronger and if your doc is anything like mine you will get to hear it at every appt. i was actually able to see the heartbeat well before i ever heard it. you could see a little ticking on my first ultrasound. its the best experience ever!

Mine was AWESOME although it was a few months ago it rocked.
At my last appt her heart was beating at a healthy 165 B/M

I rented a digital heart doppler from bellybeats.com last week and LOVE it, i use it every morning and night!!!!!!!!!

how many weeks are you? when I was about seven weeks they did a vaginal u/s to check the date. and we heard the heartbeat, it took a while to find, according to the nurse my uterus is "way back there" lol, but once it was there it was strong and steady at I think 170 or 160 beats per minute... I felt like crying I was so happy to know that I was really pregnant and the baby was okay.
at least you heard it, and you know everything is going normally. you'll get to hear it better next time.

I was so happy when I heard his heartbeat for the first time. It was so loud and clear. I couldnt stop smiling throughout the day. That was the day I started picking out baby names lol. I kept saying aww that's my baby. The best part was the doctor didnt expect to hear it so clearly because I shouldnt have heard it so perfectly until I was 12 weeks and I was only 9 weeks.

The first time I heard it my eyes completely watered up. When I left the office I called my husband and I was balling!! I was so overwhelmed with emotions. I wish he could have been there that time, it was awesome. My 20 week sonogram is in a few days and he'll be there for that. I'm hoping we get to hear it together then. I purchased a heartbeat monitor called "BeBe Sounds" in hopes of hearing the heartbeat at home. I can never find it though. I don't know if the think is a piece of crap or if I just suck at using it

i've already seen the heartbeat twice before this, today was our first time hearing it. Hopefully we'll hear it better next time.
