Yes it is bad...and they are just freakin stupid!

some of them can't quit cold turkey.

I don't get how people can quit when they find out they are pregnant ..
and then once the baby is born go right back to smoking. What's the point of THAT?! But yeah, I couldn't even stand being around people who smoked when I was pregnant!!

you see it because they want to make excuses of why they cant quit...or why they dont WANT to quit.....selfishness is all it is. They're willing to make their babies go through the withdrawal after birth that they themselves arent willing to go through. Great parenting all the way, huh.......

It really is bad. Somking while pregnant can be fatal for your baby. They smoke because they have a thousand reason why they just "can't" quit. Because smoking is an addiction and addicts will make any excuse to not give up their drug of choice.

Smoking is a habit that can be extrememly hard to quit for some people-a nicotine addiction. Almost like a drug addict. I had a very hard time quitting with both of mypregnancies-but I did for my babies.
I guess some women do not fully understand the possiblity of complications, are willing to take the risk, or are just very addicted and are not willing to get help.
It is not a very smart choice to smoke while pregnant-but it happens often.

its an addiction that many woman cant get rid of. i think its selfish but who am i to judge?

Well, I was a smoker myself (before I got pregnant, that is) and I know that it's really addictive and hard to quit. The only motivation I ever had to help me quit was whileI was pregnant. I think it all boils down to selfishness really. And, yes, it is extremely harmful to an unborn baby as the smoke crosses the placenta and depletes the baby's oxygen supply.

I started smoking at 13...and was up to a pack or more a day by 19. I hated it. No one thought i would quit because I was always the girl with a cig or trying to light up. I picked a day (June 5, 2005 to be exact) and quit. cold turkey. It was NOT easy, but I did it. I didn't want to have to try to quit when I wanted a child. So I don't believe for one second that you can't do it cold turkey!!

yea it is, i hate it when i see pregnant women smoking. i just want to knock some sence into them when i see that.

I quit smoking when I found out I was pregnant, it has been two weeks now. At first it was hell but I didn't do it for myself I did it for my baby. Now it isn't so bad and I don't have cravings. It is much easier to quit for you unborn baby than it is for yourself that's for sure!

it is a mental thing. A lot of pregnant women will tell themselves that they have to quit but only for9 months and after the baby is born they mentally feel that they can smoke without feeling guilty.

yep, I quit cold turkey Aug 16th 2006 and never lit up again...it was tough for a week or so, but it can be done...I just dont think people try hard enough. If they dont quit its because they dont want to quit....so yea, I agree with you.
