You need to eat.. even if you don't feel like it. the baby needs calories and nutricion (sp) from you! Especailly now when all of the organs are forming. Just eat a few small meals or graze throughout the day.

Through the end of my first trimester I had no appetite at all. I munched on pop tarts and tortillas, drank a lot of orange juice and chocolate milk, and took my vitamins religiously. Then after about 14 weeks my appetite came back with a vengeance.

your baby will take everything it needs wether or not you eat so its more of hurting you than your baby. my best friend did not eat a whole lot becase she did not want to gain to much weight. her baby was 8lbs but the baby drained her so much that she lost her front tooth.

Your baby will take vital vitamins from you, she or he will take iron, calcium and other vitamins from you, so you have to eat to keep YOURSELF healthy more than the baby. This is why we take pre natal vitamins and have to eat more calories so that the baby doesn't drain us dry.

Are you joking? Where did you hear that? The baby always needs things from momma. And momma needs to eat to keep everything in balance!

With my first pregnancy, I was so sick all of the time (the whole pregnancy through) and I hardly ate at all. I just wasn't able to. Just try to make sure that what you do eat is something healthy and can count towards good calories. I lost an additional 30#s after I had our son from how much of my 'stores' were used up with the baby! She/he will get what they need, just try if you can!! Our son had a genetic disorder when born, but there is no way my not eating could relate to that! He was perfectly healthy other than this condition (which wasn't even noticed till 4 months!)

She didnt' say she was starving herself! she asked if not eating a whole lot will hurt the baby. she's still eating. it's not like she has to eat 20 huge meals a day

I was an over eater before I got prgers, No I can barely Eat a entire meal. I don't think it hurts the baby as long as you eat right! I think almost every one loses weight in the first trimester. In the Second you should be able to eat agian.

If you are having problems eating big meals, I'd suggest carrying around a zip lock bag full of cheerios or some other healthy cereal and snacking on that every chance you get.

I was puking all day everyday up until the 18/19 week mark... Keeping food down was more than just a challange. I became really upset whenever I actually HAD to eat because I knew it would come back up...
But I will say this... My baby is ABOVE the average estimated growth markers (yes, I'm so proud of my little overachiever!)
This means that despite my weight loss, pure illness, and sheer neglect of any kind of diet that my baby is thriving.
Does that mean that you shouldn't eat if you can? Hell no! But don't get to upset if you aren't eating like a horse.
Just this week I have begun to actually EAT like a champ! Not big meals, but all day snacks.... Then yesterday after a good 3 days of champion grazing, I puked all day long....
It will happen throughout your pregnancy. Just do the best you can   If there is a problem then your doctor will advise you on what to do. If its severe, they will supplement your diet with IVs and hospitalize you. (for the record, its not common that happens)
