I Freaking Hate Our Gov. System (Medicaid Issues)

I just need some help.I applied for medicaid as soon as I found out I was pregnant that was late Nov/ Early Dec 2007. I recieved the letter to verify my pregnancy on Jan 3 2008. I faxed in all of the required paperwork that they wanted by the 7th of Jan. Icalled my worker onthe 8th just to verify that she had recieved it. She said"Oh YeahItIs Right Here On My Desk".Then I recieved a call from my worker on the 16th stating that she had not recieved anything from me and if I did not fax over the requested info that day I would be denied. My deadline was the 16th. Needless to say I Re-Faxed everything over to her and asked on the fax that she called me once she got the paperwork. Did she do that NO! I had to call her back again and asked did she get the fax. She told me to hold on and left me on hold for like 5mins then came back and said yeah okay I got it. Then she called me back asking all of these questions that were clearly on my application and in the paperwork I sent her. She said that was all and she wouldnt have to call me anymore. I have checked online and over the phone about my status and it shows that my case is still pending awaiting the information that I have sent twice now! I called my worker once more and she said that No my case is not pending and I should recieve my letter with my card and benifits with in a week. That was two weeks ago. Well it is now Feb 4th and I have not received anything . Not a letter nor phone call to let me know what my status is. I would think that if I got denied I would had already gotten something in the mail stating just that, but still nothing yet and now I cant get a hold of anyone in the medicaid office to speak too about what the fuck is going on. I really need to see a doctor I am getting further and further along and I havent seen an obgyn yet. The only doctor I saw was when I first found out I was pregnant. And I am starting to get scared about OUR health.

You can go to the doctor, and once your medicaid is approved, you can send your bill in to get reimbursed. Keep trying to reach your caseworker, and if you can't reach her, try to get ahold of her supervisor. You need to be very persistent. I've noticed a lot of incompetence within the Medicaid system. I finally spoke to Max's caseworker's supervisor and requested a transfer to someone else.

Yeah that is the problem I dont have any funds availible to pay out of pocket

Just what I was going to suggest. Also, it doesn't pay to be nice to them sometimes. I don't understand what their problems are, but to get things done, you've got to become a pain in their asses...

You can discuss with your doctor that you are waiting medicaid approval and they might just hold the bill. If you don't get approved for some reason, you will have to pay it. But you NEED to go to the doctor. Try to work something out with them.

Also! Try to get the number for your state medicaid health carrier, and call them. Your caseworker is just the middleman, go around her.

Well the exact same thing happened to me...this is what i did the lady told me to fax her the papers so i did well she never called back. I was so mad cause i needed to see a doc and noone would see me without the actual card. Anyways i called and called and i just got the run around. After 3 months i finally had time to go up there they said my case was denied because i didnt give the paperwork i was like BS heres the proof that i sent the faxes. They looked at each other like idiots got copies again i got a receipt of what i gave them. They said they would call me of course no call. So i keep bugging them calling and leaving messages with the supervisor....none cals me back so i go up there again i said i wasnt leaving with at least an emergency card.....i was all emotional you know how pregnant women get lol but luckily i took my older brother and he talked to the super. too. Well i got a card that day after 3 1/2 months.....juststay on them about it if u have to make several visits up there do it....I was 18 weeks the first time i went to the doc. Hope that helps.

I applied for medicaid last thursday...and I am going to the dr tomorrow. Some doctors will see you PENDING medicaid. That is what my dr is going to do. Check it out! Good Luck.
