Home Birth

Hello my name is Sam and i have 3 boys alreadyand my midwife has said that a home birth would be better for me this time as a lot has happend in the last two years and she thinks if i have a hosptial birth i could get very bad baby blues, as i've been feeling a little downfrom the start of my pregnancy. Has anyone on here ever had a home bith or knows someone who has? And are there any tips??

I know a lot of woman are more comfortable at home when they deliver- especially if it's not their first child.

I don't think the hospital would give you the blues though- that's just normal after birth no matter what.

I would never do it because i know with my luck, something would go wrong and I'd be far away from the hospital.

Thanks Tracie, I have been told by a lot of friends who have had home births that they would have had it every time if they could because they are more comforble so to speak. But my case is a little different as my mum died in hosptialwhile i was pregnant with my 3rd son who was due 18.08.06 and she passed away on 26.07.06 so you could say my faith in hosptials has changed a lot. I did have my 3rd son in hosptial born 05.08.06 but i just could not relax at all and he was born in 3h 10m but the midwife said he should have been out in just 1h but it was me i just could not relax at all so my midwife says a home bith is best for me and i only had the blues with my 1st son and i was 16 back then. Plus other stuff has happend witch i think is best not to put up on here so i've had a very very **** last 2 years :0( But i'm sure i'll be ok x

Anyone out there ever had a home birth who could give me advice???

My friend actually ahd a home birth on valentines day. She was so glad that she did it. She wouldnt have had it anyother way 

I would love to have a home birth. However, Illinois is one of the 13 states that Home Births are illegal unless they are accidental! A midwife or doctor can't go into a person's home and deliver a baby..legally anyways!

I really want one but i'm a little worried as i've never had a home birth before LOL

Just remember if there are any complications, it makes a home birth very difficult. For the states that are even legal to do it in, if there is ANY risks or warning signs during pregnancy, they won't do the home birth.

If you are having an easy, non stressful and non worrisome pregnancy, I say go for it!
