re: Curious about STRETCH MARKS

I'm at 24 weeks and none on my belly yet.   Thank goodness. But I'm starting to get some on my thighs. But I don't understand because my thighs haven't gotten any bigger, AND I've only gained 12 pounds so far. Soooo... where did those come from? haha

Lotions didn't help me. I didn't get any stretchmarks until my 7th month. I had thought I was home free

if you've already gotten them before, you're geneticly prone to get them. doesn't mean you definately will, but you have the option.

and for people who don't have the genetics to get stretchmarks.. I'm envious. seriously unfair.

I'm 31 weeks and I just have a couple on my boobs :/
none anywhere else though. for people who are further along than me, did you get a lot bigger between 31 weeks and the end of your pregnancy/ however far along you are now? of course i want baby to grow and be healthy. but I'm getting so sick of being pregnant. I'm so big. putting on my shoes takes so much more effort than it used to. I don't want to get too much more huge.
I'm little. 5'. I look ridiculous pregnant.

also, color of stretchmarks- they're normally red or pink, right? all but one of my stretchmarks are pink. one of them is deeppurple. is that normal? I also have a purple spot on my foot that's appeared since I've been pregnant. I don't know what that's about either.
I have different things I have questions about, but every time I see my doctor she just rushes me out the door and doesn't even talk to me.

I'm 37 weeks 5 days and only have small barely visible ones on my breasts. I have been using Lay it On shea butter from Bath and Body Works. Not sure if that's what's kept them away but it feels great anyway so I keep my little regimine up.

Stretchmarks can be red, pink, purple, or white. I have some of each color, lol. I swear, I look like I'm friggin' rainbow striped. Generally, the color depends on the severity of the scarring. I *think* purple is the worst, with white being the least scarred. As time goes on, a lot of stretchmarks fade and aren't as red or purple anymore.

Edit: Oh, and yeah...I hate to tell you, but I got much bigger between 30 weeks and now. I saw my 30 week belly pic and was amazed at how I thought I was huge then and it looks like a tiny belly now, lol.

I don't know for sure, but I would imagine that vitamin E oil would help in the healing process of stretch marks. It's supposed to work wonders for scars on skin. If you already have been "stretch marked", try that. It can't hurt!!!

My 3rd pregnancy and almost done.....and I don't have any at all. Nothing you can do to prevent them. If you are going to get them you will get them regardless of what you try to do. My suggestion though....keep hydrated. Drink plenty of water (will help will the skins elasticity), and use lotions or heavier creams. That will help moisturize your skin as well. That's about all you can do.....the rest is up to chance. Good luck.

That's what I'm using to help fight them. You can buy just the oil (not the capsuls) at walmart for like $3. So far I haven't gotten any but, I've got 10 weeks to go soooo we'll see. Also post baby you could try using Maderma to help fade the stretch marks, not sure if it will work but its worth a try!

Yea I have the oil that I bought at Rainbow Acres...I got it for a really nasty sunburn that I hadabout 9 months ago. It definitely helped. I've also heard that Maderma doesn't work, but that Mustela does. I wouldn't know, though.

I didn't get any with my first until I was like 8 or 9 months along, I think. It was toward the end I know for sure and they came fast and furiously.   Hopefully you have better luck.

I was told not to let your skin get to dryed out because that makes them worse. I guess thats the reasons for the lotions and oils but you also need to drink lots of water but if your going to get them you'll get them. I'll be 36 weeks tommorrow and still don't have any... yet.
