Is it true??

I had a friend tell me that when you're pregnant and get hiccups its not good to hold your breathe to make them go way b/c it takes oxygen away from the baby.Just thought I'd ask its probably a stupid question.

haha they get wierder and weirder when you get preggers you will hear all kinds of stupid advice from well meaning people.
No it wont hurt you baby to hold your breath. Or your baby would of been hurt a long time ago. You go swimming and hold your breath you sneeze and hold your breath. See what I mean?

I'd say breathing whenever possible is a good idea in general

lol kitty

OP, not a stupid question but made me think of the advice of, "don't put your arms over your head or the cord will wrap around the baby's neck."

Like Kitty said, hold your breath if you need too, just not for extended periods of time. It's not good for you or the baby

It's fine for small amounts of time. Just think of when you are in labor and having a contraction and pushing=0 oxygen to baby. Holding your breath to get rid of hiccups is just fine.
