I have heard of that happening but I wasn't sure if it was one of those stories that had got passed around so much that it changed up. That is scary! That is why you always call or go in to L&D!

yeah. I actually have two stories like this from family members. My aunt was on her third child and went into labor. She lived and still does, about 45 minutes or so from the hospital. She and her hubby got in the car and started the drive. Well, let's just say she was screaming at her hubby she could feel the head. He didnt' believe her until he felt down there because she made him. She delivered her daughter Molly right there in the car, thankfully by that time it was parked in front of the hospital. Then, in December just this last year my friend felt the labor pains and told her hubby. She lives in the same town as my aunt. Anyway he thought he had time to get a shower and stuff. (Her hubby) She starts screaming while he's in there. He comes out and has to deliver this baby! I am so not kidding. It was crazy! They called the ambulance and she and her cute little baby Elsie are doing wonderfully

wow! I can't believe they just sent her home....didn't they even check her or anything?
I went in to L&D at 37weeks with my 3rd and I guess b/c I wasn't acting like I was dying, the nurse said to me "well I don't think we'll keep you but I'll check you anyways, we don't have any rooms anyways" she then turned and whispered to another nurse. Saying she looks fine but I'll do the exam and send her home. HA!! I looked at her and said "um, I can hear you and also I know I am in labor just b/c I'm not acting crazy doesnt' mean I'm not in pain!"
So she put me in a room and checked me, as soon as she checked my cervix her eyes popped out of her head! lol And she says to me "ummm well you are 100% effaced and 5 1/2 cent....we are going to keep you"

Stupid lady I could have told her that...lmao Sometimes you just have to push and make sure they don't get lazy   Of course I felt great looking into her face and "saying see I told you so!"
Go with instincts ladies! and by the way...even though it was 3weeks from my due date he was 9lbs 10oz and 22in long!!! Huge baby!!

Wow!!! Big baby   Yeah I think it's never ever a bad thing to go in and get checked and don't let the nurses make you feel stupid. Go with your gut!

When my son was born the hospital tried to send me home saying that I wasn't in labor.

A nurse came in with the release papers, I signed them but kept insisting that I was in labor. She told me to get dressed and go home. When I stood up to get dressed, my water broke in the floor.

I yelled to her that my water broke, but she didn't believe me. She got a bunch of test strips and was wiping them in the puddle while telling me that I probably just peed in the floor. Ummmmm, no..... I didn't pee in the floor. Of course the test strips showed it was amniotic fluid so she reluctantly told me to get back in bed.
