I swear my MIL is in idiot...

So earlier today she got in between my cat and her cat when they were fighting. The cats hate eachother, so we keep my cat in a seperate area of the house from her two cats. Well, she decided that the cats were fighting so she was going to put her leg in between the two cats to try to get them to stop... Idiot move number one. Well, my cat bit her. Surprise surpise. So she freaks out and calls her doctor that she got bit by a cat. He tells her to come in immediatly so he can clean the wound. She goes in and he starts talking about rabies. She of course, doesn't know if my cat is vaccinated or not. So she calls me and asks, I tell her that my cat is overdue for her rabies vaccination. She starts freaking out. Idiot move number two. So then she demands that I send my cat to the vets office for observation. Okay..... Sorry, but no. I am not paying $400 to have my cat observed for ten days for something that she doesn't have. My cat is an INDOOR cat. She hasn't been outside since I got her, I've had her now for about 10 months. So, I tell her that I'm not sending my cat to be observed because there is no reason for it. She whines and complains that I have to because she's afraid to get a series of shots in the stomach. Idiot move number three. Sorry sweetheart, they give you the vaccination at the site of the wound and or in your arm. So she hangs up on me. I get a call from her a few hours later, she's very snippy with me. She says "My leg is cut open now because of your stupid cat. She's horribly aggressive and sick. She has rabies. And you need to either take her to be observed, or put her down so they can test her for it." Idiot move number four. Telling a hormonal pregnant woman that she has to kill her pet. Now here's the really stupid part: She refused to just get the shots, and yet she's allowing the doctors to perform a small surgical procedure on her leg... She's afraid of a series of shots in her arm, but she's perfectly okay undergoing a surgical procedure, while she's concious no less. She is seriously flawed in her thinking. And she is incredibly irritating and frustrating. I hate my mother-in-law.

Sorry, I really needed to vent about that. She's being irrational and unreasonable. And it's insanely frustrating.

Would she be freaking out as bad if it was HER cat who did the biting? OH, you should let her know that in order to have a surgical procedure done, she's probably going to be required to have blood taken...you know, needles? since she's so damn scared of them.

Okay dude... your MIL needs to get a grip... I work at a vets office and I don't know how many times I have been bitten and scratched by a cat/dog... some are vaccinated and some are not... I don't go freaking out about it every time. I just go and wash the crap out of it and move on. Seriously... for a cat that lives indoor it's kinda hard for it to get rabies... unless your MIL gave it to the cat... Second, she was the idiot who go in the certain of two cats fighting... HELLO but they have teeth and claws. Third, cats don't care if you are the mom or not... they will bite/scratch the piss out of you to protect themselves... Really she needs to grow up and quite being such a whiny baby!!

She's not afraid of needles, she just doesn't want to get shots in her stomach, even though they DON'T DO THAT! The vaccination is given in your arm and occasionally given around the area where the wound is. And are you kidding me? She wouldn't even think about rabies if it had been her cat. And her cats haven't EVER been vaccinated. Fuck she can't even manage to groom her toy poodle that she claims to love oh so much. He's covered in his own feces! A few weeks ago my boyfriend decided to try to bathe this filthy dog with his overgrown matted hair. When he tried to trim the dog after bathing him he realized that the poor dogs eyes were glued almost completly shut! Even after seeing that she refused to take her dog to the vet or groomers claiming that it was going to cost her too much money! That's freaking animal cruelty! MY boyfriend and I cleaned the dog up, and his eyes are now back to normal. But if he ever gets like that again I WILL report her to the police for animal cruelty.

At first he was defending her and telling me that he wanted to get rid of the cat. My cat IS an aggressive cat towards people she doesn't know or like. She's the sweetest thing to me though, I've put my hands in between her and one of the MIL's cats while they were fighting and my cat IMMEDIATLY stopped. She WON'T bite me. Shoot, I'd be agressive too if someone hit me with a golf club THREE TIMES and completely shattered my femur! My cat has three legs now because she had to get her back left leg amputated because my boyfriends ex-roomate hit her with a golf club! Regardless, my cat does not have rabies, she's a good cat, she just has to trust you. She doesn't like everyone right off the bat. But the boyfriend sided with his mom for awhile saying that my cat was aggressive, then we argued about it and he finally realized that his mother is an irrational idiot and now he's telling her that the only way my cat is going in for observation is if the MIL pays for it.
