I read that the 11yr olds brother was the passenger and also the parent of the 2 yr old...don't know how true that is yet though.

Well if that's true he pretty much murdered his own child *shrugs*

Any of you want to know what it's like to live a day in our shoes? You all sit there behind your computer screen read a tiny article, assume you know it all and pass judgment as if you're perfect and exempt from tragedy. This is one of the most horrific things that a family can deal with. The last 582 days have been difficult we are still waiting for time to heal.

I'd have to know what the driving laws are there. Here up until about 6 years ago a child 12 or older could drive with a licensed parent in a residential area. I think they had a similar law in Idaho when I was younger. Idk about any other state.

Anyway... It was a sad accident. A child is too short to be seen behind a car. Other parents have accidentally backed over their children...that's not neglect. It's tragic, but you can't keep your eye on a 2 year old every second. Most of the time that ends fine but sometimes it ends with a death.

So I'm assuming you're one of the parents? This topic is super old, I highly doubt the original posters are subscribed to it anymore. The only way we're seeing it is because you searched out a topic from 2011 just to comment on it so now its been brought up on the first page of D&D. Now you've just opened the flood gates for people to comment on this particular situation.

Unless i missed something the article only stated the 11 yr old was backing up in the drive way. What if that's ALL it was? Mom and son get home from the grocery, begs mom to just back up, little neighbor girl runs behind car. I mean that kind of thing happens. Does anyone know if s/he was actually driving around the block?
