I don't think I've ever posted in here before, but I hope it is ok to just jump right in and ask a question.  I finally forced myself to go see my psychiatrist (he's been my psychiatrist since I was 16 when I was diagnosed with clinical depression and ADHD) today for the first time since before I got pregnant.  We talked about how I've been feeling, and he wants to me to start going back to my psychologist (I stopped right before I had my daughter).  He wants me to try talking to her and then check back in with him mid August.  If there is no improvement in how I feel, he wants to put me on medication...he also wants to start my ADHD medication again, but that's a different story.  He told me that if he were to medicate me for depression then I would have to stop breastfeeding...is this true?  I'll admit that I've kind of been lurking PPD posts (and part of this thread) and I thought I saw that some women were prescribed Zoloft so that they could still breastfeed.  Did I read that wrong?  I really don't want to stop BFing her, but I want her to have a happy mom...I dunno what to do.  Do any of you take medication while BFing?

He's crazy dear. You can certainly still breastfeed while on Zoloft.

However...Zoloft may not be right for you. As I'm sure you've seen while lurking, Zoloft just isn't "strong enough" for some people.

That's what I thought.

That is true.  Never telling what a medication will do until you're on it.  I was put on Paxil in high school and that was a TERRIBLE experience for me.  I'd really prefer no medication at all, if possible...we'll see what happens I guess.

I've never posted in here before but I have some symptoms that I've been experiencing lately and I wanna know if maybe it is PPD. I am three months PP. Here lately I've been having major brain fog, forgetfulness. feeling overwhelmed, problems sleeping , and checking on baby at least three times a day to make sure she is still breathing........ I never even thought it could be PPD, what do you ladies think.....thanks

Those can totally be ppd symptoms. And ppd can manifest anywhere from after birth up to TWO YEARS after baby!

So I think it's best to talk to your ob b/c they have a 10 question test to place you on the scale of happy to "uh-oh."

I'm taking it. Switched from Paxil about a month ago and so far seems to be helping. But it increased my appetite and I am afraid of gaining weight while on it. Guess we'll see what happens.

I'm so sorry! Pls pls pls keep an eye on your depression -- listen to others if they say they see a diff. You don't want a relapse on top of all this!
