DO NOT do this. Seriously. If you have PPD it will only get worse. Alcohol and Painkillers are depressants. That's the last thing you should be putting into your body when you're depressed.

i agree. covering one problem with another doesn't help the situation at all.

Natasha your explantion of your ppd is identical to mine! I'm on 50mg of zoloft. I was anti-meds and all that, but it seems to be the only thing that has helped.

It's hard because I feel like a failure sometimes, because I was depressed after having Maya. I mean what is there to be depressed about y'know? It's hard.

and jenna I hope you get some help. I'm here for you if you ever need to talk!

I feel like a failure too! I should be the happiest I have ever been. Millie has even been sleeping through the night for the past month! I just don't seem to get happy about much. Do you like the zoloft, has it seemed to help a lot and how fast did it help?

it took me a long time my mum got brain cancer while i was pregnant with my son and didnt recognise me and was bed ridden by the time he was born and died when he was 6 months later it has almost been a year since her death and i am soooo scared i will get pnd (its called post natel depression in australia) again after this baby is born. i am thinking of asking to see a counsellor at the hosp. so i will be ready for it. i just try my hardest to focus focus focus on the positives which while you are in the middle of pnd seems impossible. i wanted our son soooooooooo badly we waited 4 long years for him and yet when he was born i wasnt happy what the hell was wrong with me????? this disease doesnt make sense and everyone needs some strong support to get through it and i hope you do soon.....

It took about a month before I really noticed a difference with the zoloft. I still feel a little low energy, but not as bad before. I think staying home all the time isn't helping. I've started walking and it's helped a little to get out.
