Stomach aches...

posted 27th Jan '08
I am 12 weeks pregnant and have been getting stomach aches quite often mostly after I eat. But sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night with a bad stomach ache.. Did anyone else have this problem? What could it be from?

Morning sickness doesn't just have to hit in the mornings and it doesn't just have to last the first trimester. This could be what it is for you, stomach aches. for every body its different, and for every pregnancy. My poor aunt has hyper emesis for the whole 9 months she was preggo, and that was 16 years ago, not so nice!
Hopefully your bellyaches will subside with time

So do you think the stomach aches could be a cause of Morning sickness? The only morning sickness I've gotten was at 7 weeks till 8 and a half I was always nausous and had the urge to throw up constently, but never have. Thankfully!

You know I just realized that my digetstive system works totally different after getting pregnant, so could it be a reaction to something you're eating?

Hi, we have the same due date and have quite similar symptom  . I also have the stomach ached for couple days now. I feel like sharp pain around the lower abs in the middle. I called the doc to ask if it's gonnd be ok with the baby. She said it seems to be the symptom that the uterus is expanding and told me to rest as much as possible so that the baby can grow steadily.

The other symptoms I have are weird taste in the mouth and drooling, I'm quite lucky that I don't feel nausous or throwing up  .

Oh good! I'm not the only one! Everyone I talk to about stomach aches they say they never got them well as often as I do atleast.
It may be from what I eat like the other lady mentioned. I ate alot of Spicy chinese food yesterday and kept getting them. But I know for a fact I'l get a stomach ache if I eat any sweets like Chocolate or anything with alot of sugar, So I avoid those completly now!

I've been resting alot lately just cause I can't stay awake when I am home! But I noticed the bad stomach ache yesterday after I woke up from a nap I went to the bathroom and while I was walking down the stairs I got a bad stomach ache and a back ache. and I layed down and it went right away and I haven't felt that since so I'm guessing it's nothing to worry over.

Progesterone slows down your digestive tract. It is helps to allow you more time to absorb the nutrients out of your food. That is why you might feel pain or bloated etc after meals. It also causes constipation because the longer it stays in your digestive tract, the more water is absorbed out of it. So, costipation might be your stomach ache in the middle of the night. Try a stool softener. Be careful of gas causing foods. Once the placenta is able to produce the hormones to sustain the pregnancy on it's own these will ease a little bit. good luck and feel better
