Phantom UTI?

When I get UTI's (which is rare) I almost never 'know' I have them. It never burns when I pee, it doesn't really hurt either. Just kind of a fill feeling and peeing doesn't seem to eliminate that feeling. Does anyone else get UTI's without the typical symptoms and how do you determine you have one without seeing the doctor? I have my 1st OB appt on Monday. I do not have insurance, so I am paying hundreds out of pocket for it, so I'd rather not run to the ER or walk-in if I can determine it someway myself. Or just hold off till Monday and drinks lots of water and take cranberry pills??

I am not real knowledged in this area as I have only had a couple UTI's in my life and believe it or not- my doc always caughtthem in some form of routine exam. Sad huh?

PS...I do realize UTI's are bad news for pregnant moms, that's why I am asking as I only suspect it...but realize it could be something else since I am so early in my pregnancy.

I'm a frequent UTI getter...well, I was pre-pregnancy. AZO (a brand you can find in the drug store) has UTI pee strips that test the levels of nitrates and something else in your pee. If it turns purple, you have a UTI. Sometimes my nitrates didn't register w/ the doc's tests, but since my symptoms fit a UTI and I've had them before they gave me the pills anyway.

i get UTI's all the time! actually i think i'd be more shocked if my doctor said i didn't have one! i used to hold it when i was younger and i would never pee anywhere but my own bathroom.... i still wont go in a gas station or certain places i'd rather go on the side of the road lol! but so far i've had 2 or 3 while pregnant and i drink LOTS of water and pee when i have to i think just from before im prone to them! and i hate the antibiotics they give you for it

Wow, I thought I was the only one who held it like that. That could be why I have problems. Nothing like a little thing called pregnancy to get you pee wherever whenever huh? 

And it turned out I didn't have one. I was slightly dehydrated, which messed my whole system up. After drinking tons of water for a day or so- I felt better.

And I tried to find those strips and couldn't find them. I have insurance now, so I can at least go to the dr now if I suspect something like that.

With my first pregnancy I had them alot and really never knew it. I would go in and would have another one and the dr would ask why I didnt say anything and it was just because I didnt have any signs of them or at least that I noticed. So they put me on antibiotic permanatley from about 2mo until she was born. Its definitly something that you want to take care of as soon as you can b/c your body needs the antibiotics to get fid of the infection but until you can just drink lots of water and drink cranberry juice I was told not to take the cranberry pills, but Im not too sure why they didnt want me to. gosh, i have the opposite problem!! i swear i have a uti, burning, pressure, and bladder spasms, but a completely negative urine culture!! i think my doc thinks i'm crazy!! i don't get it.....
