**NEW breastfeeding thread**

posted 15th Mar '11
So the old one is about to fill up and the OP is no longer here to update the OP as we go along. To help with the redundant questions I will keep up with links, advice given along the way. Hopefully this OP/thread can help with new mom, current breastfeeders, anything that you might be dealing with that is breastfeeding related.

For some it is an easy journey, while others like myself it took a while to get it down. It IS the best and most natural thing that you can do for your child. The bond between you and baby will be like no other. Breast milk is one of the most amazing things on this planet and is made just for YOUR babies needs <3 This thread can help you find other mamas who know what you are going through and can share personal experiences that helped them get through the rough times.

Haha. The old ones op doesn't have much information so since it was about to fill up it worked out.
We supplemented for the first 3 days. He was making no wet diapers and couldn't latch. I could barely get any colostrum out also.

I supplemented from birth to about 6 months   but I am so glad I stuck with breastfeeding. I had so many health issues in the beginning and my preemie had to be fed measured feedings every 4 hours to get his weight back up at first so I kind of had to since I was sick and could not pump

I had to supplement the first 3 days too. My daughter was born tongue tied (ankyloglossia) so the first day she wasnt latching properly which caused my milk to come in late. They cut the underside of her tongue at 2 days old   I think I cried more than she did!

We've been breastfeeding now for 10 months and just got started on solids about 6 weeks ago!

Thats awesome. He wouldn't even take a bottle if we tried.
He is 4 months now EBF and probably hasn't had a bottle in like 2 months.

I probably would have two. We went from supplementing, to pumping exclusively, nipple shield and now EBF straight from me

Shes perfectly fine! It didnt seem to bother her when they snipped it but I cried like a little baby she was sooo little to be going through the pain already. They said without it she'd never latch properly and might have a speech impediment. This is what it looks like:

(this pic is from google, this isnt my daughter)

I think I'm going to try for 24 months   The other day at my cousins birthday party my aunts were telling me its about time to start weaning her. When I told them I plan on trying to BF til she's 2 they looked at me like I was crazy and said thats too old. I told them my baby, my body, my choice
