HOw to get a 2 year old to sleep in his own bed!

posted 23rd Jan
Hi I am new here and I really like this site so far...I have a 2 year old and i know it is so bad of me but i got into the habbit of letting my son sleep in the bed with me. Well my husband started it because he works 3rd shift and when he was off for the weekend when our son was a baby he HATED to hear him cry and he would get him into the bed. Anyway my husband works 3rd still and our son still sleeps in the bed with us 2 years later!!! I REALLY want my bed back but just dont know how to get him to sleep in his bed. We got him a toddler bed and new bedding and night lights and he just doesnt want to sleep in there. Sometimes if i stay in there with him he will fall asleep but then 2 hours later he is back in the bed with me! Oh it stresses me out. I am also a stay at home mom so i feel like i am with my son 24/7!!! I love him and it is easier sometimes to just have him in the bed with me but i need my bed back again! If anyone has and suggestions that have worked for them or and suggestions at all PLEASE let me know!!!!

i know what you are going though..my son is 3yrs old now..and it took us 9mths to get him back to sleep in his own room...hubby and i took him shopping to get new bedding curtians pictures..etc..and what i did was cut out his afternoon nap..kept him busy though the day..then around 6pm its his bathtime..story time and then chilled out for 30mins before he went to bed..i would then take him up read to him until he fell asleep would wait 10mins before i would go out...if he wakes during the night instead of letting him get in with us again..i would march him back to his room calm him down wait until he was asleep then go back to my room..this went on for quite a bit..but we got there in the end...i know by marching him back you are still not getting any sleep but he has to learn that its he has his own bedroom and you have yours..its tough going good luck
