BG's EDD compared to the Doctor's calculator??

So I went to my initial appt today with my OB's office. Never saw the doctor, but I had to answer all those same questions as I did last year -- like that stuff really changes. Anyway, they took some blood and urine & said I was definitely preggo. YAY!!! & I scheduled an apt with the doc on Saturday.

Anyway, what is bothering me now, She asked me for the date of my LMP and said I was due on September 3rd. I gave her the same date as I did BabyGaga who says I'm due on Sept. 1. Not that those dates differ that much. I'm still interested to know why the difference. Anyone have a guess???

Maybe b/c you don't have a 28 day cycle and your dr's office knows that b/c the bg edd is calculated by a 28 day cycle.

Mine was always the same .. hmm ..

This is a new doctor for me, even thou I went to them last year. I only made it to this one apt b4 my m/c. The nurse was using a dial to tell her. I don't think she did anything special for me even though I am an irregular gal.

They also may not be factoring in the Leap Year?

my doc and scans say march 3rd but baby gaga says feb 29th

as i am sure you can all imagine i am going with baby gagas date...its earlier lol.

The leap year thing is a good idea. I don't really know why they would be different but if it had something to do with leap year the computer would factor that in. It would still only account for 1 day though, idk.

I have been given 2 different dates, July 5th and June 23rd so I totally understand how you feel.

I just did the bg edd calculator and it gave me the same date as my doc's office did. My 2 thoughts on the diffs for somepeople are: cycle length and leutal phase.

I had been off the pill for 2 weeks when I got pregnant so I left "28 days" in the cycle field, but if I hadn't been on the pill I know the cycle length would have been an avg of irregularity and my due date would probably be diff. And what is leutal phase? I left that at 14 just b/c I wasn't sure what mine is...

So after I went home last night I started reading all the wonderful material they gave me and found that they provided me with my very own dial. I did it myself and found that she miss counted the little marks and she should have said the 2nd. Which would make it evident that the dial is not factoring the leap year. So I'm going with the 1st!!

Another thing I began to ponder.... According to BG I am 8 weeks as of yesturday, she said 7 weeks (probably right at the end of). So as I sat at home playing with the dial I realized that thing says I started the 9th week yesturday.

It's no big deal really, I know that an u/s will probably cause everything to be adjusted again. It's just that I wish the stuff all meshed with each other so once I reach that 12 or 13th week I know I'm in the clear and can feel confident of that fact.

Basically, just follow your tickers online and count on them ^_^ Yours says 8 weeks, 1 Day, so you are -in- your 9th week, but you have only completed 8 Weeks   Can also say now that you are 2 months completed, but you are in your third month ^_^

MY B/G calculater has been off by one day both times. I would go by the DR. I'm sure their more experienced and have more medical ways then here on B/G.

I agree, however, I wasn't seen by the doctor or even examined to make sure of anything. That is other than the urine & blood tests. I go back on Saturday to actually see the doctor, so I'm sure they'll do something more to make me feel better.

Yeahh... see i first did my ticker by my LMP but my cycle wasn't quite right on time yet bc i had a m/c, so my Dr. got the due date from the size of the baby. So i'm pretty sure that that is the most acurate way that you can knw yur due date... but the difference is is when i put in my due date for the ticker here on B/G it says i'm 8 weeks and 3days but according to my dr. and the u/s i'm 8 weeks and 2 days... not a big diff. but i'm sure once you get an u/s the dr. will tell you for sure how far along you are.... they say that the first u/s is the most acurate.... good luck!
