Question...

posted 21st Jan '08
ok, I figured this would be the place to ask this... But I have done a LOT of thinking and working trying to bring my milk supply back up for my 6 month old son, but unfortonatly I can't keep up with his demand. So I am switching him to formula, I've already been suplimenting with the formula. So my question is, how do I get my milk to dry up? I'm never full anymore so no worries about engorged boobs (not that I know of yet). But are there any steps I need to take, or things I should do? I dunno just wondering if you could lend me some advice... Thanks!

You don't need to do anything to dry up. You keep the milk by having the baby nurse.

If you don't want to completely stop breastfeeding you could just feed him at night or in the morning. When I weaned my first son at 16 months he was down to only nursing 2 maybe 3 times a day. In the morning we would cuddle in bed, before nap time and before bed time.

Yup.
I remember weaning my son, I missed it so bad. He did too. When he came in my bed in the morning he would pull at my shirt and just be so sad when he didn't get any.

aww poor guy. So far my little man doesn't care if it's coming from me or a bottle or a spoon for that fact. But I know I'm gonna miss it more then him, that is why I am seriously considering keeping morning feedings, and the rest food and formula for as long as I can. Thanks again for the idea!
