to those of you who have been in labor *update*

How did you feel in the hours/couple days before labor? Did you have bad gas-like cramps? Really really bad indigestion? Headache? Constant crampy pressure really low in your abdomen? I've been feeling like this all day, plus waves of nausea that my nausea medication isn't helping with. I tried eating some food soft on my stomach, thinking it was a blood sugar thing (and knowing thats what my midwife would reccomend), and that didn't help either. Does this sound like labor coming anytime soon? Or do I just feel like crap for no apparent reason because being 39 weeks pregnant is sucky.... Seriously, if you read this thread and you've been there, please answer. I don't know anybody else to ask

I called L&D to see if there was anything more I could do to make myself more comfortable, maybe to cut the edge on the abdominal pains and pressure in my back. She thinks this is the start of labor, but definitely not time to come in. I totally agreed, but just wanted to know what I could do to be more comfortable. She didn't have much to suggest, other than soaking for awhile. So Andy and I went to a whirlpool garden and soaked for an hour. With jets blowing on my back it made me feel much better. For the record, I had the okay to sit in the whirlpool for awhile. We left there and went to wal mart for a few things, and all the pain and pressure came back. So we'll see what tomorrow brings, hopefully I can make it to work in the afternoon

sounds like it to me. especially the gas cramps. I swore I was having a bad case of diarreah but, it turned out to be contractions. Try eating something small again. toast, fruite, anything you think you can stomach because, once labor really kicks in you won't want to eat and who knows when the next time you will. Not to scare you but, my labor was 26 hours and i was famished. thankfully, the hospital had a nice hot plate waiting for me in my recovery room. I don't think I've eaten so fast in my entire life.

I would say some of it has to do with late pregnancy and the fact that you are fed up...hehe....we all get there.

I had a day or two of severe manic episodes when I went into labor....I cleaned, baked, cleaned, cleaned, called all my friends, baked and cleaned.....and thats when it happened for me. I never felt sick or anything.

Ha ha NOPE not one single sign that I wsa onna go into labor. As a matter of fact I walked to the post office 2 hours before labor began.

I wasn't in labor when I went to the hospital. It was the day after my due date & I was praying that I was dialated enough for them to keep me. I was!

Trust me, you'll know when your in labour. There really was no warning for me with any of my labours. I was even buying taps for our new bathroom when I noticed I had my first contarction. Good luck though. It has to happen soon. No choice about it. The funny thing is that you cant wait for it to happen and then I remember with my last, I was asking the nurse just to stop it and I'll come back in a couple of days cause I was so tired.lol. BUT its alll worth it in the end. Hey, I wouldn't go there 4 times if it wasn't woth it. 

i have the same symtoms n im 38 weeks about to be 39 pretty soon...but i think when the moment comes u will know...im just waiting n taking in what ever symptoms come in my way...i have to be laying down in bed but my butt cheeks hurt from laying down so much...lol...just take it slow u know lay down, chill, n just wait until ur baby comes...good luck thou n hold on in their u are almost there...

indeed you will.
i went to the hospital 2 hours before my water broke, and i wasn't contracting or anything.
my body just felt weird, and i knew it was time.

lol my sister did the same thing when she had both her kids, she asked the nurse if she could go home and finish tomorrow. Which was HILLARIOUS because she was induced for several days with each child, unsuccessfully, and when the pitocin finally DID do something she begged to go home. I know it won't be funny when/if I get to that point, but right now it kinda is

seriously? That's crazy... I hope that happens to me, that I "just know" it's time, i don't want to be in all that pain, trying to get to the hospital, especially as nasty as the roads are outside right now, and we live a half hour away. HOWEVER if it happens tomorrow or the next day, it would just be convenient b/c I work at the hosptal where I"ll be delivering

i couldn't imagine being in a car and contracting. the hospital i delivered at it 1 1/2 hours away ; i would of been in HELL!!

but yeah, i was lucky =).
