WHO HAS SUFFERED FROM A SEPARATED PUBIC SYMPHYSIS???PLZ REPL

posted 19th Jan '08
I suffered from this after i had my daughter who is almost 3 in March. It happened while i was giving birth, i remember i felt sumthing tear i even heard it but i kept pushing. the next day you know the nurse makes u get up and clean urself blah blah, so i told the nurse i couldnt walk, i mean really i couldnt, she looked at me like sure whatever an made me get up, so i got an xray done and yup i was 3 cm seperated, what a bitch that nurse was, she was lucky i never saw her again! so i used a walker for almost a month, had to sleep downstairs, it was very upsetting and my daughter had to sleep with my mom at night, so now shes so close to her because of this, so now this is my second pregnancy and im feeling that shit loosen up now, i can barely walk, i feel the same way i felt when i just started walking again. it sucks and im trying keep it cool and all, but i know its gonna happen again and its fuckin driving me crazy!! so i just wanted to share this with y'all and see if this has happened to any of you, i read it happens to 1 in 300...yay im lucky!!!

mine seperated at 5 months with my son. I am SO sorry. I wish I could suggest something but, really the only thing that helps is delivery.

what are a lot of the symptoms...I feel like I have it.
Its really hard for me to stand up and it hurt around my entire 'where femus meets hip' bone. Could this be my problem?

If it feels like someone is stabbing you in the croch and the pain shoots down your legs then it could be. Ask your dr.

It will go away once your baby is born. I was SO happy to be able to get up and walk with out any pain. Thankfully, I have 5 weeks of this pregnancy left and the only pain I have right now is the pressure from her head. I keep telling her 2 weeks before mommy starts knocking on the door asking for rent money. *L*

I have no idea. We lived in a 3 level town house and I remember my husband having to drag me up stairs just so I could pee. It was horrible. I hope to never experience that kind of pain again. Child birth is nothing compaired to walking around in that pain for 4 months.

I had this pain after giving birth to my son who will be 3 in May. I actually heard the crack noise as my son came out. I could not walk, or even do anything for 3 months. The only thing that I could do was nurse my son. My husband did everything for me. My midwife told me that it heals on its own and it did but took a good 2 years to heal! I never had any pain there when I was pregnant. Now I am pregnant with my second and being watched closely for any pain and they have noted at the top of my chart that I had this so that I will be watched closely during labor so that it does not happen again. I really hope and pray that it does not happen again because I will have my son to care for to this time around!

Is there a way to prevent it from happening during labor?

Like...is it doc negligence to not notice your body is reaching its max stretch point literally?

I am so glad you posted about this. I thought I was going crazy for real. I even told my mom the other day that I know its normal to get pain during pregnancy but that I knew not everyone was in the pain Im in. I usually have a really high pain tolorence and I was actually starting to feel like a whimp. Anyways Ive researched about it and I will talk to my doctor about it tomorrow at my appointment. Thanks for filling me in.
