if he doesnt sighn the birth certificate he has know rights~ only problem with not giving him the last name is you will have take paternity test to get child support~ will he not be a goodfather to the baby????

im in the same situation. Im giving my daughter my last name. Whether her dad decides to come around and see her is his choice, but its ny choice what to name her since he took off.
I think it will be easier in the long run if you either use your last name or both together. Just for the purpose of having the same last name. I know this is kinda off the subject but when i was 13 and went to get my belly button pierced with my step sister, she couldnt get it done. We were with my stepmom and her and I have the same last name but even though My stepsister is her biological daughter they wouldnt allow her to get it done because of different last names. I know thats an odd example but im pretty sure there might be other instances of things like that happening.

I live in P.A and I got full costdy as soon as it I could for the same fear that he could come and take the baby when he wanted my two year old has his fathers last name in my famly it is a very comman thing to do like a un writeing rule of Respect I no here if no custody agreement has been made in court then who ever the child live with is the guardin and for him to take the baby with out your consent is k idnapping if you dont tust him and your child gose to day care make sure they relese you child only to the people you say can pick He/she up around her they are pretty lose about that and it frustrate me to no end that i paid for a key to my sons day care but the door is all ways open

You could ask for full primary coustdy that way dad could vist but you are the primary care taker

Here fileing for child spport is free but for custody there is a fee for the person who files also the dna test are free unless he dose not agree after the result say the child is his the the judge decide no judge is going to argue with a test that say 99.99% so they he would pay for the test and court fees

He can do it at the hospital when you file for the birth certificate, or afterwards. In order to get child support you need to establish paternity. After that you should file for sole custody. You can name your child whatever you want. My babies dad did not show up at the hospital. So i gave her my name. A year and a half later, he accepted Paternity, and we changed her name to his. Now a month later he is not visiting her, and I am very sorry that I gave her his name because I feel like he doesn't deserve it. Now I need to ask the court for a change and prove that it is in the best interest of the child. I just want her to have her old name back!! Good luck.
