Cant sleep (kinda long)

posted 19th Jan '08
i realised a few hours ago that i'm getting quite depressed. I want to be excited about being pregnant but i just can't. I keep on thinking that i'm just going to be all alone and lost with no one to help me, i'd love to go talk to the father, or my family or anyone but i just don't want to.
I feel like i'm about to loose my life to this baby and i don't understand why. i was feeling quite optemistic the other day and was getting used to the way things are and will be but now i just don't feel like i'm up for it any more.
I have been treated for depression previously but this doesn't feel the same, it's just an overwhelming sense of dread that i'm going to ruin everything and destroy what i have.
does anyone have/know any good self help techniques to cheer myself up. Just venting doesn't really feel like it's working atm.
perhaps i'm just insane.....

keep your chin up hun. . .hormornes are running rampant during pregnancy and for a good time after birth as well. A lot of your feelings are understandable-pregnancy is a huge life changing event. It's hard to know what it will be like. . . you won't until it happens, and you just go into mother-mode automatically. You will eventually find you love your baby like no other! Talk to you dr. about depression and meds, I have dealt w/ that as well, and am on meds now. As far as coping techniques, try to journal, take a bubble bath, a long walk, draw, paint, listen to good music, talk to friends. . .I'm here if you need me

Hey hun,

It'll be ok, as soon as you hold that little cheeky butt in your arms you will instantly fall in love.

Have you got msn? you can always chat to me on that.

Hugs

Thanks  where you prescribed any meds while you where pregnant. I was taking some before i found out but i decided to stop taking them while i'm pregnant. I'm still not sure if they can do harm to an unbourn baby..

I'm sorry hun. I went through this too. You know what made me feel better? A good dose of baby shopping! It makes you get excited again..I mean yeah, you'll have your days where you're down in the dumps..but your pregnant and hormonal..lol. I agree that once you hold that baby, you'll think you were so silly for being depressed about it. Keep your head up!
