In MI we have something in this county called the Resource Center. You can call them and they will tel you what you can do. If you do not have one then you can call the Department of Human Service or Social Service, whichever it is called where you live. They can give you all of the places that could help your cousin.

Thanks ladies. I told her about WIC and I'm going to take her and try to help her sign up for that. I just don't know the requirements w/ her being under age and all.
The girl hasn't stayed in school since she was in 7th grade (she's been enrolled many times but won't stay)

She lives a few cities away (with her boyfriend and like 12 people in a little apartment) ughh

I have way too much on my plate to try and take care of her but she agreed to let me help her enroll in school (one more time) I don't know if she'll actually stay but I contacted a lock-down (she doesn't yet know it's lockdown) continuation highschool less than 2 miles from my house....We made an appointment to meet with the principal there next thursday so we'll see.

I think she got on medi-cal already bc i know she's seen a Doctor but I'll double check with that...

I know there's a social services building not too far from my house so we should probably take a trip over there. i'm kind of worried about her age. i'm thinking you might have to be 18 to get state help, or the parent has to sign up for it and her parents aren't in her life...
i've been able to enroll her in school though, obviously without being a parent, so i'm hoping i can help her with that as well

she doesn't live with me. she literally lives in an apartment with god knows how many people.
i wish she would live with me but there's a long list of rules she has to follow in order to do so and up to this point, she's never agreed to follow them.
And by rules I mean, go to school, no computer access w/o being monitored (she's gotten herself in trouble via the internet), her boyfriend may NOT spend the night, etc.
how strict for 15 year old right

If her parents aren't in her live they will ask you to prove that. It may also be smart for her to get emancipated if she is old enough. There maybe a lot of paper work and stress to go through to get everything she neeeds, but they can't turn her away!

Do you know what she has to do to get emancipated?
She mentioned that but I thought you had to be able to support yourself...which she can't do at all

Where are her parents? Can they helpout? That's alot on your plate to take care of. She can get on financial help, medicaid, food stamps, wic and so on. Call your state and ask what they offer, they may offer more for younger teens

Yes you do have to support yourself if you want to get emancipated.

When you go to social services just be honest with them about her situation. They may want to give her another legal gaurdian because it sounds like neglect from her parents.
I have also heard that you canbecome independant from your parents if you have a baby. It is different for each state. Make sure she gets a good case worker and they will help out. Like i said they can't turn her away. Government is too worried about thier infant mortality rate.
