slings/pouches/baby carriers

posted 17th Jan '08
What do you guys use/recommend? I have an over the shoulder baby holder but it makes my back sore (I think it's the wrong size...) I'd like to get either a Maya wrap lightly padded sling or a Zolowear sling or any kind of open tail ring sling that comes recommended.

I also have a baby Bjorn, but baby hates it because he's less than 3 months old and has to face my chest.

Thoughts?

I've never tried anything like this before, but a lady in my town was carrying her baby in one and she bent over and I dont know if she wasn't holding the baby in it when she bent over but the baby fell out and its skull got fractured.   kinda scary! sorry if im no help, ive never used them before.

I had a infantino carrier when Hailey was around 2 -3 months old. She hated it with a passion and I couldn't get NOTHING done carrying her plus it hurt my back and felt like I was being pulled DOWN in the front

At 6 months old I wanted to take Hailey out of her infant seat to put her in a convertible and didn't think she could sit up on her ow yet so I bought 2 slings.

I bought a pouch sling (was too big for mybody even at the smallest size). Then I bought a ring sling (adjustable) but I still did NOT feel comfortable carrying Hailey in it since she could almost pull herself out of it.

Luckily soon I discovered Hailey could sit up on her own and no need for me to carry her.

I would say a Ring Sling since its adjustable .. I felt comfortable carrying Hailey around the house in it (comfortable on my body) but didn't feel comfortable (safe) taking her out in public for long it due to her moving too much.

I have heard great things about a Mei Tei too .

I think this site is a bit expensive but they have some really cute patterns/fabric. You might be able to get one cheaper off ebay.
