ultrasounds question?

hey ladies  
well i had my first ultrasound yesterday at 18 weeks and 5 days and they told me that most likely is a girl. but i was wondering if they do other ultrasounds to confirm? how many ultrasound do you usually get done? and also when do they do the one to check the organs of the baby and all that stuff? because i dont think they did that at mine yesterday or at least they didnt tell me...  

Usually at 20 weeks.

As long as you're not high risk you'll probably only get one, that's all my hospital does. I'm sure they would have checked the organs and stuff, too.

most insurance companies have agreements with doctors that if you're not a high risk, thats the only one you get. im getting a 4d one next friday so i can see my lil girl again since i havent since my fetal anatomy one around 18 weeks. So, no. They dont normally do anymore.

They should have done a fetal survey since your are 18 weeks. Sometimes they aren't good at telling you things or think you don't need to know. You doctor should let you know if that was your fetal survey. If you have a umcomplicated pregnancy you may only get one ultrasound. My insurance will pay for more ultrasounds so I'm having one more done in 2 weeks just to see her again.

Thats the same thing they told me when i got my 18 week u/s. "I think its a girl.." When i told my doctor that the tech didnt seem so sure, she offered to check again for me (between 24-28 weeks i think). So maybe if you ask your doctor, they'll check again to make sure   Also, they most likely checked out her organs and stuff at the u/s you just had, even though it seemed like they were just taking random pictures..

The 3D ultrasounds are possibly the coolest thing ever, you get to see the little fella swimming around in there from all angles!!!

i only had one done. and they also thought it was a girl, so i just went and payed for the 3d ones just to make shure..... and i think they might have cheked the babys organs they probably didnt tell you

The reason they do an u/s at 18-20 weeks is to check the baby and make sure everything is ok. They don't do it to find the sex. Because the sex can sometimes be found, though, they will let you know. That is not the purpose of the ultrasound though. A lot of u/s techs are quiet. It just depends on who you get. If they didn't tell you about any of the organs or bones being bad than you have a healthy baby and unless your insurance pays for another ultrasound and you ask for one, you most likely wont get another one.

I've only had one and i'm 30 weeks. They told me it was a girl and pointed out the 3 lines. But she sounded kinda unsure. We got the 3d one and she goes "i still think it's a girl" So, i'm kinda hoping i get to have another one done just to make sure.

I've had 3 u/s so far and my last one was an anatomy scan where all the organs were checked at 19wks, 5days.

i got 2 from the Dr one at 16 weeks the other one at 25 and 2 i paid for 1 at 17 weeks and the other one at 32... when i was 16 weeks they said it looks like a boy they weren't 100% because his legs where close together and when i went again it was a boy so there is a good chance that you are having a little girl!
