As of last Friday I was 2cm dilated, 60% effaced.
I'm going to go as long as I can without the epidural, just because I had one with my first son, and I hated not being able to get up and shower, and walk around right afterward.
If it gets to be too much, I have no problem taking the epi... but we'll see how I do.

I had NO pain meds with my first! Yes, I was crazy and I thought I wanted a natural birth! Pshhh! Never again! I wasnt able to get up and shower with that one, just b/c I was on fire from feeling every stitch they put in me!

I go to see the OB today to see if he's going to induce me,or put me on bed rest until my due date because of my BP being too high once again,and my weight is acting crazy,so I'll know this afternoon I dont want it though rather let her bake for another 3 weeks! I've put on my birth plan for a water birth we shall see though,I dont want the epi.

lets see well tomorrow (wed) i go get another ultrasound, and then i have my dr.'s appt. and were going to set the day of my c-section so im nervous and ecxited, im hoping to make it till feb...

Yeah... that's why I have no problem taking the epi if I need it. I'm not all gung ho about a natural birth, but I'd like to try. With my first son, they gave me pitocin, and it made my contractions right on top of each other. I thought I was going to die...
I'm definately going to try and avoid the pitocin this time around. I'd like to try a water birth too... but, like I said, whatever gets him here safely, I'm cool with.

And we're naming him Julien. Not sure about his middle name yet. Possible Alexzander. My husband likes Elias, because of his uncle... but my husband says it with a nice accent... I just sound like a little white girl when I try to say it... lol.

I thought I'd be terrified of the epidural, but once the pitocin hit me, I kind of lost my mind. I don't even really remember much. I just remember being all curled up in a ball on my bed, sobbing hysterically, and some idiot resident coming and asking "So, did you get your epidural?"
And I so kindly replied "DO I LOOK LIKE I HAVE A FUCKING EPIDURAL???"

I also vaguely remember my husband looking totally terrified, and at a loss for what to do with me. He kept trying to dab my head, but looked scared to touch me, like I was going to chew his arm off... lol. (I never got mean with him... or anyone other than the resident who asked that retarded ass question.)

I think what bugs me about my experience is that my son's heart rate was fine, I was fine, I was progressing, slowly, but surely... and instead of asking me to get up and walk around, they stuck me with the pitocin. I felt like I didn't know anything, so I didn't really question them. Now that I look back, I feel like they were just trying to rush me through. I know better now, and will not allow the pitocin unless there is a valid reason to speed things up.
