castor oil

so i was reading a previous post of someone and she stated that her doctor told her to take castor oil and that she took it (blah blha im sure everyones seen it).
naturally she was chewed out ..people saying that she was lying about her doctor.
i didnt really think anything of it. because if there are risks like everyone is saying then ofcourse a doctor wouldnt recommend it..

but my doctor just recomended i take castor oil too.. andi recently found out my sister took castor oil while pregnant because her doctor said to give it a go aswell.. though i havent taken it.. it made me think a little bit. why would my doctor recommend something that supposed to have crazy risks?? is my doctor an idiot or is everyone just being a little too precautious?

With anything, the benefits (at least in your mind) must outweight the risks. I personally don't have a huge opinion on this matter, as long as you are full term. In all honesty, I wouldn't take a laxative due to fear of pooing on the table. It's one thing to poo a log, but could you imagine diarhea!? LOL

i think it depends on how much you take.i took it with my 7th and had complications.i did go into labor 12 hours later.but my daughter passed meconium inside because of the castor oil.and wasnt breathing cuz she asperatedthe meconiuminto her lungs.the baby will come when ready.if they suggest that ask if they'll just induce you at least thats safe.good luck and only take the dosage your dr recomended.

I'm curious as well. If I were you I would do some research on it and show your doctor!

i also agree!!!i did it and i know im an idiot for doing it.its selfish,and can really hurt your baby like what happened to mine.she was in the hospital for extra days to be sure her breathing was ok and her lungs were clear.

my sister took about a table spoon because thats what her doctor said shold be alright...
nothing happened to her.. i dont think she even got the runs like ur supposed to get

I'm glad she was ok in the end! And now you can tell other girls not to do it and hopefully they'll listen to your experience.

well i took 3tblespoons and lemme tell you i had cramping unbelievable but no runs.just a baby girl born .but dont do it thats my advice.
