Swelling at 37 weeks?

posted 7th Feb '11
What does the OB mean when they say to watch for sudden swelling? My ankles were not swollen yesterday or this morning. But about 10 minutes ago I noticed that my feet feel funny...and they are hella swollen. My fingers are starting to swell as well. My LO is not moving AS much today. I have noticed a few pokes here or there but nothing substantial. I got his HR on doppler about two hours ago and it was good, but now with the sudden swelling...I am kinda concerned. I know swelling is normal at nearly 37 weeks. I have been showing NO signs for pre-e. Perfect BP's and urine. What do you ladies think??

The sudden swelling can mean pre-e. That's why they want you to watch for it. When you push on your swollen ankles, does the imprint stay for more than minute? If so, call your OB. Otherwise I would rest, put your feet up and drink a butt ton of water.

It is pitting but not for a minute.

Drink a bunch of water and put your feet up for an hour. If you don't notice a change, call your OB.

I had pre-e with my first and it was terrible and got so much worse the last few weeks. I could barely distinguish my toes from being a solid unit....

Keep an eye on it and DEFINITELY mention it to the OB. If the swelling gets worse call.

Please define "hella swollen"

More water and lots of protein <3
