breast reduction mommies

Just wondered if any of you have had any problems with breast feeding in the past with any of your other kids afrer having a breast reduction? I had a breast reduction about 4 years ago and am now in my 6th month of pregnancy. I have had some leaking on the left breast pretty consistantly for a few months now. I usually notice that it must have happened while sleeping. I haven't noticed anything from the right breast at all. I am hoping that everythnig is going to be good for breast feeding on the right side... but wanted to hear anyone elses stories. Were you able to breast feed? Thanks. :-)

I'm curious about this too...however I didn't have a reduction I had saline implants.
and wondering if I will be able to breastfeed successfully, some say yes others say no.
It just depends I suppose.

When I used to work in Labor and Delivery, we had a lot of patients with implants that were still able to breast feed with no problem. They typically don't maneauver the ducts around too much when inserting them, so hopefully you will be good to go.   I know what you mean about the some say yes and other's say no. I asked my OB this question and he said "you will just have to wait to see, there is really no other way to tell." hmmm.. just thought maybe someone experienced this. Hopefully there is someone out there that can tell you about implants from a personal point of view as well.

By the way, I see you live in Florida....I am originally from the Merritt Island/Cocoa Beach area, but was stationed in Tampa fora while. I am feeling a bit of jealousy!!!! :-) I just moved from there out to San Antonio. Wow, do I miss it. It's just SUCH a different feeling being out here. Every time I am driving I think that I see water in the distance... nope, no water... just a bunch of land.

yeah, I plan on breastfeeding...I think it should be okay because my incision was thru my armpit...not thru the nipple.

yah, you shouldn't have a problem.

I live in Pensacola, the beaches are very nice here.
and it never hardly gets cold....hehehe
we've only had to turn the heat on a couple of times so far this season.

u might be able too also...i think w/ reductions they go thru the nipple area////

u could still try and if u don't make enough milk u could supplement or pump and put it in a bottle, add formula if need be.

Oh, Pensacola is gorgeous. I miss the water so much. We will hopefully be making our way back "home" to Florda after we are done with this assignment. The temp here fluctuates more than Florida! One minute it's 32 degrees and the next it's 81 degrees.

They did the anchor cut for me, under both breasts and then up the middle and detached the nipple but then replaced it....oh god, that hurts thinking about it! I know the left should be good. Am I going to be lopsided??!!!

I am curious, too. I had the anchor cut for my reduction in 2006. I hope it all works out. I love to nurse my babies!
