Pap smears during second trimester

Has anyone had one? Ihad oneyesterday because I had a cervical scraping for precancerous cells in July and I have to get paps every three months for a year to make sure things are OK. The first test in October came back negative so I was due for this month. I asked the doctor yesterday whether it would affect my cervix of the baby and she said nobut to expect a little blood if even that. I haven't seen anything, but just wondered what you'd been told by your doctors. If there is already a forum on this matter, just send me in the right direction. Thanks.

I got my paps done again at 31 or 32 weeks.. just to double check that nothing changed.

Oh and well then there's the strep B 'swab' ..

I never had spotting or brown discharge after though

I'll be having pap smears all the time due to infection found, but the infection will be healed by the time the baby is born, and I've already been told that if I go about the birth witha C-sect. I'll have a 100% chance of NOT passing anything to the baby...

And the first time I had one, which I was 10 weeks, they told to expect a little bit of spotting, but nothing much, so I'm guessing that if they're going to do it, they must not be too worried about it.. However I'm not a doctor and just kind trust most of what my nurse says, or doctor, or start asking tons of questions until I get to know everything I want to know.. lol.

OK thanks. Googled paps during second trimesters and all that came back was abortion information so figured I'd check on here and see what the BGG ladies could tell me. Thanks a lot!

I had a colposcopy about a week and a half ago... they even did a biopsy (took part of my cervix)... I did have some discharge, but that was due to the fact that they took part of my cervix.

If you've not seen any spotting/discharge you're fine. Some times people spot and some times they don't.

If the pap smear was going to harm the baby or possibly put you into preterm labor, the doctor wouldn't do it. So no worries there either.

to you and babygaga, i'm with the both of you. i trust my doctor so after i asked her whether it would affect my cervix and she said just expect spotting MAYBE, i relaxed. but you know how it is the next morning. i got paranoid and figured i'd just ask to make sure. thanks for easing my mind.
