Does gas increase a sign of labor?

Did you lose your mucous plug yet? Have you checked with your doctor see if you're dilated/effaced? And yes, gas is a sign of the beginning of your labor, although it's not a 100% indication that it's what is going on. It's your body's way of cleansing itself out. I'm already dilated/effaced & have lost my mucous plug and my doctor was able to feel our son's head last Wednesday!!! And yes, I have a lot of gas, amongst other things. Good luck!

Not that I know of but its said most people dont even know they lose their mucus plug. Well I have an appointment tomorrow actually...but the last doctors appointment I was effaced(he didnt say how much) but not dilated I feel pains here and there but I dont know.

It's true - most don't realize they have. And I have my doctor's appointment tomorrow as well and will find out if I'm more dialted than I was 6 days ago and if I'm more effaced (I was 1.5 cm dilated & 70% effaced)......good luck on your appointment!

??? My stomach is really hard right now and I got pains on the sides in my ribs and right under neath my big belly and it hurts to get up...normal? And I feel gasy.

In my opinion (of course I'm not a doctor), you sound as if you're at least slightly dilated. And gassy? Jeez.....I swear mine could make the normal person pass out...and it's ONLY been since I've dilated and it's getting worse and worse...not to gross you out or anything. And yes, it hurts for me, too, but we both have our appointments tomorrow so keep me updated and I will do the same! Good luck!

Congrats! I'm still 70% effaced but now up to 2 cm dilated from 1.5 cm exactly a week ago....so looks like it might take a few weeks, needless to say! Or it could happen for both of us tomorrow....you never know! Good luck!

really well in one week i dilated to 1.75 cause i wasnt dilated at all last week....she said any day now for me

I was so excited today prior to my appointment because I thought I would be admitted to the hospital and have my baby or something!!!! No such luck....but when he's here is when he's here! And I know....I can't wait to hold him and kiss him and just meet my little man!

My doctor made me make fists and put under my butt while she was checking and then she told be she wiggled her fingers to get the cervixs to open more i guess...lol either way i just glad i know longer have to get majorly violated lol now for the pushing a baby out

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's an old wives' tale.

Your lucky you didnt get your membranes stripped. I did! it was painful. But i lost the rest of my mocous plug today and have been having contractions. SO i guess the pain was worth it if it started my labor. LOL I've also been really gassy so i'm glad i'm not the only one! good luck and hope its soon for you!

yes i had my membranes stripped last week and it is PAINFUL I have dilated to 2 cm and am like 80-85% effaced and i also have been noticing the gas...GEEZ i walked for like 2 hours in the middle of the night because i was hurting so bad!!! Good luck to all of you i am going in Sunday at Midnight to get induced (i know controversial subject) but the doc seems pretty confident about it so we're gonna do it!
