I doubt it's about money. The government could make a lot more money if they legalized marijuana and taxed it.

They wouldn't be able to have alot of control on how the population would obtain it. That's why they wouldn't be able to tax it EFFECTIVELY. Lots of people grow their own, and lots more get it smuggled in the U.S. in care packages...even if the government did grow marijuana and taxed it, tons of other people could grow it and not tax it and make more money. If the government was smart, they would legalize marijuana, but keep it illegal to grow it. Potentially, it could open up alot of jobs for immigrants like farming, cultivating, and distributing...but the government doesn't think like that....

I am an asshole when I have been drinking, I am a soft drinks only person. I used to do things that I am not proud of when I had a few. But after a 'J' the worst I'd do is fall asleep in the middle of a film. God knows (no pun intended ;)) that after a smoke, there is not way you'd get me to be bothered to go commit some kind of criminal act.

Smoking is banned in public places everywhere here.
Yet some pubs stay open all night.
I don't understand it myself.
