Advice wanted for surviving a summer pregnancy

posted 6th Jan '08
Right now it is the middle of summer here. I'm on the verge of 22 weeks, with temperatures getting higher (some days going up to 95F- 104F) humidity ranging anywhere between 35% and 80% I'm starting to dread the daytime. Any advice on keeping cool in hotter weather?

(Note: We have no air conditioning, the windows and doors are all open got fans on full blast and the air from them is hot. My partner sponged me down with a wet cloth before which helped for about 10 mins.... but made me feel like a beached whale. Had 2 cold showers today already as well.)

I stayed indoors whenever possible...but you have no AC. That sucks I wouldve died.

Try going to the mall on the really hot days to keep cool. Water, cold drinks, ice cream, popsicles...basically anything cold.
Try getting a cold pack to cool your neck down...that helped me.

I totally feel your pain!!! With my first we didn't have any a/c and I had him at the end of our summer. Of course the summer I was pregnant we had record highs! I would fill one of my large pans with ICE water to soak my feet in and then I would also (at the same time) put an ice pack on the back of my neck. I also tried to go places that had a/c as much as possible. We did eventually break down and buy a window a/c unit for our bedroom so that I could get some kind of rest and towards the end I spent most of my days in there. Like the OP said, drink LOTS of water too. I remember how miserable I was, and I hope you are able to find some relief!

We haven't got a pool, but I've been trying to go to the public pool 3 times a week to exercise. Thankfully it's cooler today been raining.
