Baby too large for jumperoo/exersaucer?

posted 10th Jan '11
I've been reading that the weight limit is 25 lbs for most of the jumperoos and exersaucers that i've been looking at to buy.
My son is 6 months and is 20 lbs. He's just starting to learn to sit up, and I really wanted to have one of these for him. I'm afraid to buy one though, because he's already so heavy that he'll only get to use it for a month or so.

Do they make these with heavier weight limits?

I haven't seen them with heavier weight limits... but honestly I'd buy a used one because as soon as my kids could crawl they were PISSED if I tried to put them in one. You'll probably have better luck with the exersaucer because they stand in it and dont' bouce as much, although they can make it bounce a little bit...

he shouldnt be 25 lbs in a month! maybe in 4 months but hopefully not any sooner than that...i put my son in his from like 3 months and he's 9 months now and 19 lbs and he still goes in it but he doesnt really like it now that he's getting more mobile...idk if it would be worth it for you to buy it now.

I had no idea they had such low weight limits. DD was in one and a little heavier than that

I don't know why either. I don't want him to miss out on having one because he's too heavy for it. He can't help that he's a big boy! Ha

Was she fine in hers even being a little heavier?

He may not be 25 lbs in a month. Ha
BUT, he's been putting on weight so fast that i'm paranoid about him being too big for one. He'll definitely be 25 lbs before 4 months though.

I was actually looking at that one and thought it was really cute. I didn't see a weight limit though.

I think it's a 25lb weight limit as well but it's cool cause when your LO out grows it he can still play with it

idk they slow down a lot at that point. my son gained less than 3 lbs from his 6 month to his 9 month appt.

While there is no weight limit for this saucer, it should stop being used in the 2nd stage when the child can walk, climb out or when they are 30" tall (or flat-footed in the saucer in its highest position). It can then be transformed into the play table mode for more fun. "

Unless the exersaucer is too tight for him, then you can still use it. Even those top exersaucers for babies infants and toddlers infants have weight limits. Just search for the brand and model and read the features.

He'll probably be fine. His weight gain will definitely slow down and he'll be bored of it by around 10 months probably. Mine are pretty bored of theirs now and they are almost 9 months old. It was definitely good to have though!
