Anti-Depressants

Does anyone know anything about taking anti-depressants while pregnant?I am just over 10 weeks and my therapist wants me to start taking Prozac because I was on Zoloft before I was pregnant and my OB took me off of everything once I found out I was with child. Any info is greatly appreciated.... HELP!

I'm on Zoloft right now. According to my doc, it's one of the safer ones.

They put me on lexapro during my pregnancy

I have bi-polar my OB has made it very clear that if I feel I need the meds that we can work to find something I can safely take. If you feel you need them have a serious talk with your OB they should be willing to work with you, and if not I would work on finding a new one. Your mental health is just as important as physical health. I mean if you had diabetes they wouldn't make you stop taking insulin.

I have been taking Zoloft since last January and have been on it my entire pregnancy.

Ask your Dr about Lexapro...I was switched from xanax to lexapro and it has really worked well for me!!

I too am on zoloft and my dr said the same thing, that it was one of the safer ones

They baby is growing just fine, and everything looked great on the ultrasound. I haven't had any side effects from it... But i have been taking it for a while.

Honestly, I've only been on it for a couple of weeks, after we (my husband and I) agreed something needed to be done. Being that I was having suicidal thoughts (not for now, for after I have the baby, always thinking ahead) my husband, my doctor and I agreed that I'm to go back on the medication I weaned myself off of three and a half years ago. Being that I plan on breastfeeding, he suggested I go on zoloft. He said the most problem we would have is that the baby might go through withdrawl after birth and be a little colicky for a few weeks.

zoloft is my miracle pill, it has helped me so much....

I was on lexapro before and after a 2 wks adjustment period it was very helpful aslo, BUT the first 2 wks i ws on it i was HIGHLY suicidal, i mean scary and i was not that bad beforehand.

All drugs are different for different people, have you had one that worked for you before? maybe there is one in that classification that can help you? Def. just tell your doctor your concerns, and they really will do whats best for you (as long as this is a long time-trusted dr.) if not get a second opinion also.
