Not being able to afford an abortion is the only reason I was forced to tell my parents .

I think that this thread is great! So many people can't afford it, which is why I looked in to this thread..
I have a two year old and a 9 month old, and made an appointment on the 22nd of February to on the mirena. When I got there I got the shock that I was pregnant, instead. My insurance will not cover even one penny, and my Dr said last Thursday that the price right now is 500, and goes up every week. I live in low-income housing, barely getting by, giving my children the necessities at the moment, and that's all I can afford. I have always been pro-choice, but I personally didn't think I could ever have one. But right now I need to think of whats best for the two I have now. It is hard, very hard, but I'm glad to see that some people really do understand, and are willing to help. So, I want to thank you! I have called one number, and am looking into calling others now;; I did not even know that they had help like this out there, I don't know what I would do if I didn't find this! Thank you so much, you have just taken the world off my shoulders..

Michigan has a few programs that will assist with the price - depending on your income level. Most clinics will assist you with seeing if you qualify - and I know of one that processes the application for assistance without physically seeing your bank account etc.,

Abortion pill and follow up visits can be as low as $300 - but be prepared to be part of a long group of women

I have some advice for anyone trying to get through on the NAF hotline. I work as an operator there and I know how hard it can be for callers to get through. Trust me when I say that we are there every day of the week, taking calls from 7 AM - 11 PM during the week and 9AM - 9PM on weekends, and the phones almost never stop ringing. The need is huge, and nationwide. Since we are a non-profit, we don't have a large staff. During the day shifts there are only between 2-6 operators working at any given time. If you want to increase the likelihood of getting through to an operator, call either between 7PM-10:30 PM during the week or anytime on the weekends. You could also do as someone else suggested and call from the clinic the day of your appt. The clinics have another number that they can call to get through to us faster. Hope that helps!

1.buy a pack of condom's, much cheeper, most £1 shops sell them, or you can get them free from a sexual health/family planning clinic
2.dont use abortion as a form or contreception
3.think the next time you go out, have sex and dont protect yourself, it could lead to unwanted pregnancy!!
