i dont think he is ready to wean, he is just not AS hungry as you think he should be. Sometimes Jonas does that when i ASSUME he is hungry, and its just frustrating for both of us, so i let him play, sleep, whatever, and soon enough he's ready to eat

I got a lot of crap from girls on BG for doing this but at 6wks we started seting a night time schedule. We did bath at 830 and then I BF, rocked and read to him until he fell asleep usually around 9. Some nights he wouldn't go down as easy and I would let him cry for a bit and then comfort him. It didn't take him more than a couple days to catch on. He changed his bedtime to 8 a few weeks after we started that and every now and again we'll still have a bad night where he won't go down so easy. We try to be flexable. I consider him to be on a schedule though. Up until a few weeks ago I could never really count a him napping during the day. Now he usually gets up around 9-930, naps around 11 and then again around 2. Bathtiem haschanged to being a morning routine because he would be so tired at night that he would literally scream the entire time. We started him on cereal recently (you have a while before you have to worry about that) but he eats that between 12 and 1 and then again between 5 and 6. None if it is really set in stone though, just what we try to stick to. Other than night time, he set everything and, I guess, technically he set bedtime too kind of in a way. LOL sorry for rambling. Good luck!

Your not rambling, lol, I appreciate your input. I am not going to be all anal about it, but the thing is I have to go back to work Jan 5th, and I am lucky that I can do that financially, whereas most people can't (taking 3 weeks unpaid)... Otherwise I would be going back next weds. And as tired as I am now, I just can't see it happening. I really need to focus on getting her to sleep in her crib, I think that will help.... I kept her up today for a little, read to her and tried to play with her but then it backfired on me cause she got so sleepy she was cranky and would not sleep until I fed her again. LOL... The joys of motherhood. And I read your profile, I agree with what you said about CIO... I have let my daughter CIO (maybe not for long), especially in the middle of the night when she is fed, changed and just will not go to sleep!!!! I have to walk away for a few minutes to collect my sanity. Usually when I pick her up then she calms down and I can get her to go to sleep and put her down. Tonights goal, no sleeping on mommy! Now I am the one rambling, can you tell I am tired? LOL...

We had a few diapers with specks of blood back when Sullivan was around 7 and 12 weeks old -- I went off dairy just to be sure that wasn't it, and when I went back on it, the blood never recurred. My GP thinks it was small fissures that may have been aggravated when he was straining to poo -- apparently at that age, they strain whether they're constipated or not because they're still learning how to go and as soon as they get the urge, they push hard. I did oodles of reading about poo at that point too, and everything I read about oversupply mentioned green "frothy" stools, so I'm not sure why they'd be mucousy.... is there anything different you've been eating lately that may be irritating her a bit causing the mucous and blood?

My son is great, I love him but he goes through phases.... Today I could not eat shower do- ANYTHING because even if he wasn't eating he had to have his mouth glued to my breast or he'd start wailing! Most days he eats for 20-60 minutes then sleeps for 2 hours...but somedays he acts like I am starving him- I have a really good milk supply so it's not that he's not getting enough...

No, it shouldn't, at least in the beginning. Solids should never replace milk, just complement it. You should always offer a baby to drink milk first, and then offer solids to be sure they are getting enough milk before they fill up with solids.

How old is he? It sounds like a growth spurt.

Do any of you ladies send milk to daycare? If so, do you send it fresh or frozen, and how much extra do you send along?

I'm going back to work tomorrow   and am thinking of sending at least a full extra bottle's worth. My daycare provider said I could send the milk in whatever form I wanted...and was thinking frozen that way I didn't have to worry about it getting old in her fridge.

I'm not really producing a whole lot extra (an oz or two) so I'm hoping that she's as conservative with my liquid gold as I am.

Any advice/suggestions or things you've worked out with your daycare providers?

I send fresh, refridgerated milk because it stays good longer at room temp. I also keep a bag of frozen milk there just in case! I send 4-5 6 oz bottles a day. There is usually one left, or he'll have just finished the last one right before I pick him up.

Sounds like he's having his 6 week growth spurt early. Usually they are over with withib 2-3 days, but can last up to a week. The key is to let him nurse as often as he wants so that your supply will keep up with the new demand. Growth spurts are not easy, but you can do it!

I've never seen anything about refrigerated/frozen milk and how long it can sit at room temp...only freshly expressed. How long is each good for?

Fresh and refridgerated milk is good for up to 10 hours at room temp. I personally never go past 8 hours though. Frozen milk is only good for an hour at room temp. after it's thawed. Frozen milk is also only good in the fridge for 24 hours, whereas fresh milk (never frozen) is food for 7 days in the fridge.
