Be careful about the amount of dairy you eat, that can cause gas too.

I have the medela pump in style that i borrowed from a friend,I know theytell u not to share pumps, but i couldn't understand why since all the parts that touch your breast&milk are sanitized or replaced. I got all new tubing and everything from the hospital. Does anyone know what the real reason is? With my pump I notice alot of air coming from the pump itself, on the lower suction settings. Not sure if it has anything to do with it, but She said she never had the pump above the 1/2 way point with the suction...Do you have the settings turned all the way up? Hope its not getting worn out. Good luck w/ the replacement parts.

Hey, u changed ur name   i was thinking of doing that so people can just call u by your first name, it's Lisa btw.

Heyy

He does it in the begginning but sometimes he doesnt do it at all. He doesnt seem to be in pAin, alot of times he just follows my husband around looking at him. But then there Are the times when he's crying (i thought because he was getting really hungry) and doing it. I'll DEFF talk to his ped, i didnt know that could be acid reflux though....

hello ladies! Our little one is just over a week old now and I have a question and just something to share...

First, let's share...we have thrush! I hate thrush! I fought with it for 4 months with my daughter. I really didn't want to do it all over again this time around. I almost didn't have a third child because I didn't want thrush problems again! But, here we are...good times.

And, my question...Tyler passed his meconium diapers in the hospital and finished a little at home and had one more poopy diaper on Saturday. So, tomorrow it'll be a week that he hasn't pooped. No one at the doctor's office seems concerned, but I was wondering if anyone else's kids weren't pooping? He doesn't seem to be uncomfortable or anything, it just seems odd to me. Thoughts???

thanks

Breastfed babies can go up to a week without pooping. B/c they use almost 90% of the breast milk, as opposed to formula (babies only can use abou 50% of whats in it). So therefore formula fed babies are expected to poo more.

With that being said, when my son was that age he pooped during every feeding. Seemed like he was pooping 10-12 times a day. So I don't really know why some breastfed babies poop like crazy and others barely at all.

As long as your little one doesn't seem uncomfortable then I don't think that there is a problem. Just make sure if it goes on for over a week (which I know you are close) to call your doctor.

Here's hoping your little one poos today! And I'm extremely sorry about the thrush, I have heard some horrible things about it. Fortunately I haven't had to battle it yet.

When I was at babies r us yesturday I saw the replacements parts for that pump. Maybe the diaphram needs to be replaced??

Also, if you continue to have problems with let down during pumping you can put a really warm ( hot really) wash cloth on your nipples and it will start the let down. But, I know that isn't always possible at work.

I wish we had a BRU here. I have a 60.00 breastpump from walmart for right now. I am not pumping much, just when I might have to run out or something, and I will pump a bottle for my husband to feed Landyn. But I have used it 4 times and I can already tell that it's not going to hold up when I start wanting to pump quite a bit more. I guess it's true, that more exspensive is better dealing with pumps? b/c when I get my taxes back..i plan on getting a good one, but I don't want to spend 150 or 200.00+ if it's going to lose suction quickly like my cheap one is.

I have a question, or maybe just a concern. I nurse my son, and up until about a week ago he was fine with a routine feeding about every 3 hrs. At night he would go to sleep at 9 or 10 and wake up at 2am, 5am, and back at 7am to feed. For the past week or so, all he wants to do is feed or be latched on forHOURS at a time. It started off just during the day, where he would be latched on up to 3HRS at a time sometimes not even eating, just sucking; butfor the past fewdayshe is doing it at night too. Last night he woke up almostevery SINGLE HOUR to feed or just to suck and he would go back to sleep. I tried bottlefeeding himduring one of the times he woke up thinking he would sleep a few hrs longer and he woke up 2 hrs later instead ofjust 1hr. Ive tried a pacifer and he just wont take it, I even tried sprinkling a little milk on the nipple of the pacifier so he would take it, but that didnt work either. I dont know what to do, he wont let me do anything during the day bc all he will want to do is be latched on (when I take him off the boob he cries and yells) and for the past few nights he has done it all night too, and I know he isnt sleeping well bc he wakes up constantly.. What should I do? I do really want to keep breastfeeding, but its getting really frustrating, and my family keeps telling me to do use the cry it out method but personally I think he is too young still (he will be six weeks on monday).. any tips on what I should try doing?

My son is kind of like that..but he's not as bad. Did you say that you tried pumping a bottle for him on top of feeding and that helped a bit? maybe you could do that every time. it sounds like he's using you as a pacifier. Landyn does that quite a bit, but he does take the pacifier at times so that helps out a lot. Have you tried different types of pacifiers? the only kind my baby will take is the soothie kind. and i also had to buy the soothie bottles for when I do pump.

I thought it was a growth spurt too, but he has sucked so much that my milk supply went way up, and now he isnt even draining one of my breast like he use to. Thanks for the advice, ill keep trying and see what happens hopefully it will change soon

Sounds like a growth spurt to me. Plus babies have a need to suck, so since he doesn't like the Paci he is using you.

Try experimenting with the Pacifiers, eventually you will find one that he likes. My son prefers the Playtex Ortho-Pro over anything else, but we had to try 3 or 4 different kinds to find one he would actually suck.

I know it gets discouraging, but it gets better. When my son was that age I felt like a walking milk dispenser. I sometimes didn't even know why I bothered to get dressed. Good luck momma, I hope you finda paci that will take some of his need to suck away from your nipples.

yea i bottle fed him and he slept one more hr. I also tried different pacis and he spits out every single one lol. im probably just going to bottle feed him at night, but that might be a problem considering he nurses to fall asleep at night.

lol landyn does the same. he goes to sleep when he nurses. i am still new at this breastfeeding thing, so i don't really know of anything else to try   but i hope that you get it figured out so that you can get a little more rest.
