I'm so sorry...I still feel like that sometimes. There's a thread on the parents with kids page for parents of 3 or more kids and I complain to those mamas about how tired I am and snapping at the kids for being kids. Thank goodness I don't have a dog! Tyler is over 9 months now and sometimes I get better sleep at night, but he's teething, again, and that means less sleep and more clinginess in the daytime too...makes for a sleepy, grumpy mama. One of the women there recommended vitamin B, so I'm getting some this week at the grocery store. Right now I use caffeine when I get the chance and need it. I don't like doing it, but what's a mama to do? Somebody's gotta make dinner, right?

Anyway, I hope things continue to improve for you and you get a little more sleep here and there to help you feel more human again.

In the beginning it hurt me quite a bit b/c she used to nurse so much !! there was one night were I started looking at all those damn free formula samples and I said something about maybe trying it to my hubby ..He just looked at me and said "huh ? That's not like you , are you giving up? "
I realized that I didn't want to do that and didn't give in to those damn free samples and haven't yet ..I'm glad that I didn't but, I do think that those 1st few weeks are the hardest !
ETA ..the formula companies know that it's so hard in the beginging and send those samples to tempt us when we are weak ..I think ..they know that if we use it then we would need to cause our supply would go down ...and I say boo to them !

I agree! I donated my samples immediately so as not to have them around to tempt me.

And you know the little bag a lot of hospitals give out that contain formula coupons and samples? My old LC worked to get the hospital to put together a BFing bag for new moms that wanted to BF...it had magnets with her number and the local LLL leader and onsies that are pro-BFing, lansinoh samples. I loved the idea and think every hospital should have that option for gift bags.

I'm sorry you're still struggling so much. He's kind of old now, but can you swaddle his arms down to teach him not to punch at you? Or stop feeding him when he does it and then re-latch a minute later? I don't know if that would hurt more for you or not.

As for his tongue...yes it should be on the underside of your breast. I think usually you have to pull the bottom lip back to see it, but at least he's got it positioned correctly.

I should look at that thread. Can you take Vitamin B while bfing? Because if so, I'm all for it. I had a candybar the other day and the chocolate upset her tummy, so I'm pretty sure any sort of caffeine will do the same.
And thanks, I hope she starts to sleep better soon, too. If I hadn't lucked out with Hannah and had a baby who loved to sleep as much as I do, maybe it would be easier. I wouldn't be thinking "Hannah was already sleeping through the night", it would seem normal.

How old were your kiddos when they reached 25 lbs? I want to buy a new swing but the weight limit on it is 25 lbs. I can't imagine he'll weigh that much in the next couple months since he's only about 11 lbs now haha but I just wanna check!

Tyler's not there yet and he's over 9 months but Jace was over 25 pounds by 6 months...every baby is different!

I hadn't even thought of that...so I checked on kellymom. Here's what I found:

What if I would like to take extra vitamins or other nutritional supplements? Is this safe?

  • Most mineral supplements (e.g., iron, calcium, copper, chromium, zinc) taken by the mother do not affect breastmilk levels.
  • Water soluble vitamin supplements (e.g., B vitamins, vitamin C) taken by the mother usually increase breastmilk levels. Breastmilk levels of some water soluble vitamins, such as vitamin C, only increase up to a certain point, then remain steady – even if mom increases her dose.
  • Fat soluble vitamin supplements (e.g., vitamins A & E) taken by the mother can concentrate in human milk, and thus excessive amounts may be harmful to a breastfeeding baby.
  • The safety of herbs and other nutritional supplements should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis – some are safe and some are not.

oh yeah i know every baby is different, but i just wanna see about the average i guess. the swing is over $100 but he LOVES it (he used it at a friends) but i don't want to spend that much money if he'll be out of it in a couple months. that's what will happen with my luck!!

Check out Craig's List or Freecycle to see if you can get one cheaper (or free). Swings are a godsend! My daughter is 9 months old and only weighs around 19 lbs, but she hasn't been in it for awhile as crawling and standing are WAY more fun than swinging

I never knew chasing around after a crawling baby and saying "Don't touch" all day long would wear me out so hard!

Jamil is 13 months and 23 pounds, the swing still works for him, but my guess is that your baby will stop liking the swing long before it stops working for him.

My son is close to 25 pounds...I'm guessing around 23-24 since he was almost 22 pounds a month ago and he has grown out of all his pants! He is 8 months old now.
