That's what I think it is. I do burp him after each one. He usually spits up a lot and is usually pretty gassy I keep him up too but doesn't work most of the time

Brooke has to be burped at least 3 times on each breast or she will spit up, I think it is my milk coming out too fast that gives her problems.

try the coffee and see how it goes. generally, one cup shouldn't have a strong effect on your LO.

I've never had coffee myself, but that's what I hear.

yes, my LO used to smile when he was done nursing. =D

Quoting Proud mom & USMC wife:" One more question "/ sorry. My son has been spitting up a lot and been very gassy right after eating. Does anyone know why or what I could do to help?"

you could try burping him or if you have a strong let-down or oversupply, he might be "over-filling". If you think that's the case, then cut down his nursing time a bit and see if that helps. that's what happened with my son. I actually had to time it and only let him nurse for 3minutes and that helped a lot with how much he spit up.

Also if you don't see an improvement soon you may want to consider cutting milk out of your diet. A lot of babies cannot handle the milk protien.

A few weeks ago my supply did yet another big drop and I decided that I would just let it die this time. So sick of having to constantly fight to produce enough for her. So she started getting more and more formula and less boob.
But I miss it like crazy so here I am fighting yet again to get it back up. Nursed her to sleep the past 2 nights and it was wonderful.
And she hit 10 months last week...my baby is getting too big!

Thanks. We've been doing 1-2 formula feedings a day since 6 month (not sure if you remember all my drama with that, haven't posted in here much since then), but I still had to make sure to at least hand express every morning and night. If I skipped a day or two, then she was fussy and going crazy on my boob so then it was near constant expressing for about a week and then she'd be happy boob baby again. This happened every time I decided to go to bed with out expressing. My fault but sometimes you really just need to pass out (specially when you only get a few hours of sleep a night).

It's just frustrating that I've had supply problems for so long, when there's no reason for it. Have always fed on demand, pumped when she got a breastmilk bottle (or a formula one after that was started) it's stupid. I had a better supply when I was still working and away from her for half of the day, it didn't take it's first drop until after I quit my job.

that's tough, when you're doing everything "right" and your body just isn't cooperating. But it's great you've stuck it out this long! I think most people would have given up a long time ago.

It's been really hard. And I felt like complete smurf for making the decision to give it up a few weeks ago. Talked to DH about it and he made me feel a little better, that he was surprised I stuck with it so long and yada yada,
But I miss it too much just to let it ago.

hopefully as she grows and starts eating more solids, you'll have enough of a supply to satisfy her.
