Yeah I don't have the suction I use to.. I just read your post above this one about wetting the rim. I will have to try that, which is difficult b/c the room I pump in isn't neara sink.

Any other suggestions on things to try?

That was exactally it! I can't believe I put it in wrong, I knew the correct way!

Well like the one girl said it could be the little white disc. Its only one of 3 places, thats what I like about this pump. The cup around the breast, the part with the handle attatched or the white disc. Since you've been using the pump for awhile it could be that the disc is just wearing out. I'd try changing that. If you need more replacement parts in the future I think you can even order them off Target.com.
To try wetting the rim just take a bottle of water with you when you pump.

Is it true that you can't really overfeed when you are breastfeeding? sorry for all the silly questions...but I am a real rookie at this thing and I didn't really get as much information as I would have liked in the hospital. It's good to have others to talk to about it

It is true. It takes longer to nurse from the breast than it does from a bottle so the baby has time for the stomach to signal the brain that it is full before it's too late. Plus, as parents, we think our baby should eat 2 oz at a feeding and if they don't, we try to force more down. With the breast, you have to trust that your baby ate enough, and that you are making enough

i've wondered the same thing. i think as long as you're not sticking a boob in their mouth just because they're crying or something then you're fine =]

thanks girls. that's good to know because some times he will feed for like 30 minutes. and not just the stopping and going to sleep (using me as a pacifier) but then again, other times he will only feed for about 15 minutes. I guess he knows how much he wants of it though.

Part of this may be due to grow spurts too. Nursing more frequently and for longer will help up your supply by stimulating your breast to make more milk as your baby's needs increase.

I'm quoting myself.. haha

I tried wetting the pump b/f using it and that didn't seem to help much. So I have replaced the parts with my spare parts. I'll update again tomorrow to let you all know if it worked.

Wish me luck, haha

My daughter started doing that because she has acid reflux. I would recommend talking to his pedi. She is now on Zantac 2x's a day. It's helped significantly, but nighttime can still be a challenge. Poor things.
