She is probably screaming because diaper rash hurts..

I suggest letting her air out after every diaper change (Nakey time to air out)
Prompt diaper changes, and you may want to just use luke warm water to rinse her with rather than a wipe

Use some diaper rash cream after she is aired out...

Diaper rash could be related to something in your diet, or it could just be diaper rash.. I think a food allergy would be very very red... Like a burn almost, but I'm not sure what other symptoms would go along with it...

The poop you're describing sounds completely normal for a bf newborn. It seemed like my daughter pooped as fast as she ate that first month and a half. As far as the diaper rash...ditto what jamils_mommy said.

i would try to cut out one feeding at a time, replacing it with a sippy/bottle. I wouldn't suggest cutting her off cold turkey. It would be painful for you and confusing for her.

once you get her off one feeding, go for another feeding. Until you are down to one. Then just cut that one out.

Definitely normal! That is classic BF baby poop.

Try airing her diaper area out and using a washcloth instead of baby wipes.

And of course, diaper cream. We love A & D but alot of women on here also love the butt paste.

My Katy is 4 weeks old today and I've got another poop question. Since yesterday afternoon her poop has been green and a lot of it. Seems like diarehea to me. But I can't understand the green. We were up literally all night long because every time she nursed she would scream. The only thing I could think that was wrong is that I have an awful sore throat and that she maybe had one too and when she nursed it was hurting her to swallow it (like it hurts me to swallow anything). What do I do? She finally settled down a little bit and we took a hour nap but when I just nursed her again and she screamed again. Not for as long as before but she did still scream. I don't know what to do. We are both completely miserable and exhausted.

green poop can be a foremilk hindmilk imbalance, but could be signs of illness as well. and if she has a sore throat, the bm will actually help heal it for her, so let her eat. when lylian starts to get sick, she nurses like nonstop for a couple days, and never ends up sick. bm is a natural healer   good luck.

I think she could probably have gotten an illness.. Not to much you can do about it except nurse frequently and keep her hydrated.

My daughter is also 4 weeks and is doing the same. She is also choking on the milk some too. I spoke to a La Leche League Leader on Sunday and she said that it sounded like the hindmilk/formilk imbalance and that I had "Oversupply" issues. You can look that term up on their website www.lllusa.org and you can read articles on it and what to do about it if you match it's description. I am also pouring milk out just moving it out of my bra, in a lot of pain if she goes longer then 1.5 hours without nursing etc, so that is one of the signs of the oversupply.

My daughter is 10 days old, and at the hospital they gave her a bottle until I was off of magnesium sulfate (due to preeclampsia) and now she wont latch on for longer than 3 minutes. After 3 minutes she would start crying and refuses to latch back on. Ive been giving her breast milk in a bottle but I really would perfer for her to latch on rather than me pumping.
Does anyone have any advice???

It sounds as though you aren't letting down fast enough for her. This is very common in babies used to a bottle because they get to like that instant gratification, lol. Massage your breast and hand express some milk before letting her latch so that you have already let down when she latches. That way she doesn't have to work to get the milk to come down and it is already flowing when she starts.

Oh no that is exactly whats wrong. I knew I was a bad mom and now here's more proof. Instead of my breastmilk helping her its messing her up. Thank you for the info.

You can also put a warm ( as hot as you can stand it) wash cloth on your nipple RIGHT before you feed her and that will get your milk to let down. As soon as it lets down you can latch her!

Your milk will settle down! ALOT of us have dealt with oversupply on here and you just have to feed on demand and not pump! Pumping will just make it worse. Also block feeding helps ( nursing on one side more than once before switching breasts). Your milk will adjust though.

I will try that as well, When I tried the massage thing during the feeding it went well with the left breast but not with the right one. I tried the right oone forst the second time and she wasnt happy with it
