That's what I thought!
lol
She was just concerned he wasn't emptying out all the milk and I told her that the poop can change if they aren't getting the hind milk but I couldn't remember what exactally did change about it. I thought it was turned green but wasn't sure!

Her son is nursing 30 minutes on both sides pretty actively so I don't think she has to worry. But, that's what us Mama's do best...Worry!

The lactation consulatant said it's really only important for preemie babies, and other wise it's safe to assume they are emptying, if there gaining well....

She said it was only recently they even knew about hind milk

That's kind of what I figured.
Her son lost a pound the firstfew weeks he was born and she had to supplement him with formula as well as BF but she didn't give up and worked really hard to up her supply and give him a chance to learn to nurse better. I think he had a lazy suck when he was a new newborn. So, I think that's why she is even more of a worrier when it comes to her breastfeeding. But, I thought everything she descibed to be sounded normal and typical of a baby his age. I am very proud that she kept it up because it was really hard for her in the begining. She's a single Mom and didn't have any help but still pumped every couple hours and every time I talked to her she was on her way to talk to her LC.

That's impressive. To many quit to easily. I hear it all the time (Oh I just don't have time to pump that often blah blah blah) Then you hear.. Oh I just dried up.. Hmm conicidence, I think not...

This is much about breastfeeding...but I'm desperate!

For those of you who have started solids...are you having problems with constipation??

Olyvia never had a problem pooing until we started solids. We started her just before she turned 5 months and she did fine for a few weeks. Once she got stopped up, we tried things that were supposed to help and then backed off of solids completely until she got back to normal. I now mainly only give her fruits and veggies that should help her go...pears, peaches, apricots, plums, prunes, etc. We don't give her cereal at all. I give her 2 ounces of juice with 2 ounces of water everyday as well. Nothing seems to be working very well. She just woke up from a nap screaming, trying to poop. It's so sad and I just feel horrible. But, she's 7.5months old so I don't want to stop solids all together...Any suggestions???

Hmmm...I'm not sure. You seem to be doing all the right things. I would talk to your doctor and see what they suggest.

Sorry, I am no help! But, I wanted to tell you that I had the same type problem with my daughter but the last few weeks all she is doing is pooping! I don't know if it's because she's teething or if her body has finally gotten used to solids or what! So, maybe there is some relief in sight!

Hmm... That is weird... Maybe increase her water intake.. My Dr said he could need up to 8 oz to keep the pooper going.. (Not all at once, but 1/2 oz at a time throughout the day) He drinks a lot of water, but hasn't had to much of a problem with Constipation.

Thanks! Hopefully, there is an end in sight. My ped said I'm doing all the right things and that I'll just have to find the right balance to get her going. But, I just feel horrible for her poor little bum!

Thanks for that suggestion. I'll definitely try that. I hate giving her the juice and hadn't intended to start it until a year, but it was at the suggestion of my ped that I did. Maybe a bit more water wouldn't hurt either!
