I'm looking for mommies whose babies started solids and reverted back and only wanted to breastfeed...

My daughter is 6 1/2 months old. We started her on solids around 4 months because she was bf'ing every hour and a half and it was draining me physically and emotionally! Everything had been going great. She has never been on a schedule as far as bf'ing or eating solids. Some days she would eat everything I offered her and other days I would be lucky if she ate a few bites of the solid foods. She started rejecting the baby food a few weeks ago and when I brought it up at her 6 month checkup the dr told me that some babies just don't like baby food and that it was ok to start her on table foods. So we started table food and that went great for about a week. BUT ever since Friday she has rejected ALL solids. She only wants to breastfeed! I offer before, after, and in between when she wants to bf, but to no avail.

So I'll get around to the question...I know that the first year that babies only need breastmilk or formula, so I'm not worried about the nurtitional aspect, but is this normal behavior to revert back to wanting to breastfeed exclusively?

I'm not sure if it is 'normal', but I can see how it would happen. Maybe she just really likes the comforting aspect of breastfeeding and doesn't get that when being fed solids. Or maybe she doesn't like how long it takes to eat when she gets solids (that is what I would assume if my son reverted back, lol). Or she could just decide she doesn't really like the taste.

It may be her teeth bothering her.. Just keep offering it and she'll take it eventually... Jamil has rejected all solids on numerous occasions, but it never lasts to long.

You both have some good points...we've been watching for more teeth to come in as she has been a lot more clingy recently. She has never been one to eat a lot of solid food, but she usually at least tries what I offer her. She has had that little jaw locked tight and won't even try a bite. I suppose this will pass...it's just weird. It's hard not to worry when the little ones start acting differently. Thanks ladies!

The dogs are loving it though...they love her "rejects"

Just thought I would share with everyone . . .
Lilly Padz are the bes thing ever - check them out at www.lillypadz.com
They are reuseable nursing pads that pretty much prevent leakage once your milk is coming in regularly! They have been so wonderful for me, I figured I would share the wealth!

Yes! It's completely normal! Just offer her food at every meal and if she takes it great if not that's okay too. There can be tons of reasons why she isn't wanting solids right now but none of them are a cause for worry. She is still young at 6 1/2 months so it's not a problem.

i want to throw jonas out the window. for the past 3 nights he has been waking up every 2 hours on the dot and wont go back to sleep without eating, and then being rocked to sleep. i am exhausted. this last night he just kept wanting to eat and eat, but my milk wont let down. i tried massaging, blah blah blah, everything. he is now lying on the floor screaming.
i have been with him 24/7 for the last month and a half (since moving to a new town). i just need a break. i cant go anywhere, because its like an hour round trip just to get somewhere, and his nursing demands have become so sporadic i dont dare leave him. i have no friends here, no family, and i feel just as depressed and angry and sad as i did when jonas was 8 weeks old.
im sorry for posting this here, but i didnt want to make a seperate post about it. i just needed to get it off my chest. i want a break.

Just remember...the calmer you are, the calmer your baby is! Does he have colic? I know how frustrating that can be!

hes 4 months. he doesnt have colic that i know of. he is great during the day, and he never eats that often during the day.
ive wondered about teething, but would teething make him fussy only at night?
i know i should stay calm. i just have extremely low patience. especially when im tired and homesick.

My daughter started teething at 4 months and i noticed she was really sqwirmy during her sleep and she wanted to suck and suck and suck, she is breastfed as well, when i would get frustrated with her, i would just remember that she is in pain and cant help herself...she relies on me to help her, that calmed me down alot!
