Has anyone ever got over nipple confusion with your little one? I'm trying to get him to take the breat again. He is 10 days old and will latch on take a few sucks, and then cry, cry, cry until he gets the bottle. I am pumping and giving him my milk through the bottle, but the past couple days I am not putting out as much at one time. I so want to breastfeed so any tips, suggestions, prayers, lol would be greatly appreciated.

Ok. Breastfeeding is amazing, Kadence does excellent..but this diet thing. She has had bad gas twice since she was born from something I ate. I thought I was doing something good not getting the greasy hamburger and getting a fishtail instead...WOW..I was wrong..shes had bad gas all morning. It breaks my heart to see her in pain. I gave her gas drops so its calmed down. But how the heck am I suppose to know what will and will not upset her tummy!? I think well what gives me gas will give her gas..but neither time I have had gas from anything I ate.

For us, I've just noticed patterns. For instance, after three bouts of gas, I realized that I had eaten green beans every time before the gas...and they never do anything to me! You can try writing down what you last ate whenever she has a gas episode and see if you start seeing any patterns.

I saw a different pediatrician last time I took Sophie in and she told me that she didn't think any foods cause gas in babies...tell that to Sophie and green beans  !

My lil girl is 8 months today and we have had the same battle ever since she was born but it has gotten better adn better over time. Ialmost forgot, until I read your post, about those late night fuss's where she did that same thing, Hope that gives you encouragement, we were on Rantidine (or zantac) and eventually we just slowly stopped needing it now we use Milicon when she has a lil bout!!! Good Luck and God Bless ~Chrissy

I almost forgot intil I read "I feel pretty's" post I cut out ALL dairy products in my diet YES that means Ice Cream too, I had some cheese but no milk and that helped TREMENDOUSLY Some days were hard and I gave into temptation and that's when I directly saw the impact it had on her! I cut back on spicy food ofcourse but something about cow's milk seemed to be bad on her!

Mine is 8 months old now and still has no teeth but she will "gum" my nipple and pull I've noticed that for us that either means her tummy is upset or she's just really hungry! I try patting her diaper while talking to her telling her no, and she eventually caught on that I didn't like that it didn't happen a whole lot especially since alot of times I realized it was her tummy and I would give her some mylicon and she would get back on without any more "pulling" Hope that helps

Way to go! I can't believe a DOCTOR told you to give up! With such little support in the world for us breastfeeding moms, I half expect full support from your doc! but hey you did it!

I have but it sounds like your son is just used to a faster flow since bottle nipples are easier to get food out of. Everytime she was hungry I would always offer the breast first, and just try that for 10 minutes then I just gave my little girl the bottle for 3-4 minutes or 2 ounces and then gave her my breast again. Since she wasn't so hungry she took it easily. We cut it back less and less until she was getting on a schedule and being used to more of a workout to get her meal.
What I've learned this past month with breastfeeding is it takes patience and almost all of mine during the first 10 days. It does it get better. Try getting your milk to let down before offering your breast to him. That usually helps too.

I'm in the same boat. I can't stand that there is no specific diet to breastfeeding but more trial and error. My daughter had a really rough week last week and it was due to otter pops! I love otter pops so we think it's the food dyes in them. She is also not good with milk, not so much cheese and sour cream as much as just cow's milk. It sucks, but you have to do what you have to do right?

well the rule is 3-5 days i think. i push it to a week because as i know from working in food service, the rules they make are usually an underestimate just to be safe.
