It just goes to show that you always have to think about what you're saying and doing around little kids...they just soak everything up  !

Okay this maybe long....I have breastfed Eryn the entire time since she has been born. She will be a year old in a couple weeks. In the last 7 weeks she has only gained 7 ounces. She recently had an ear infection and we thought that was the reason she wasn't gaining weight,, because when she's sick she doesn't like to eat. And that was 3 weeks ago and at that time she weighed 15 lbs 8 oz. Well Tuesday she had a docs appointment to recheck her ears, well they weighed like usual and guess how much she weighed...15lbs 8oz. Argh! The last couple visits her doctor has said shes worried and is thinking about getting blood tests, well that day she finally wanted it done and a sample of her urine and stool. It took us a day to get the samples because we couldn't catch her urine with a pee bag, 3 unsuccessful tries and we finally got a little on the last try. Wednesday we turned it to the labs and the doctors called and told us her blood work looked fine and that she said I need to start supplementing with formula, which I really don't want to do. She thinks that it will help her gain weight. But so far I have had no luck with her getting to take it, so I don't know what I'm gonna do. I have been feeding her babyfood and table food and she eats really well unless she's sick. So I don't get why my doctor is gaining weight. Has anyone ever had this problem with their child not gaining weight at this age. Also the doctor wants to see Eryn in 2 weeks and if she hasn't gained enough weight they want to send her to Riley Childrens Hospital. I'm scared I don't want my daughter to have to go to a hospital. And lately her appetite has changed since we went to the doctor on Tuesday. I can barely get her to eat now whether its table food or babyfood. So I really don't know what to do. I just hope she gains weight. I'm just really worried about my little baby. Also my grandmother was really tiny and petite so I'm hoping its just genetics.

I have been BFing for 2.5 months... and recently, I feel like my supply is going down. My breasts don't feel as full... I don't get as much when I pump and my son seems frustrated in the evenings and takes FOREVER to eat... I have been trying to drink more water... pump after he eats (which isn't always possible)... I am really nervous because I am going back to work in less then two weeks. Anyone else experiance this? What can I do

So I have a 4 day old infant and she is down 11% body weight 7.1 to now 6.5. Today at the check up with the lactation nurse I was told that this was not good and the baby has lost too much weight I wake her every 3 hours to feed but she still seems to pretty much spit out my nipple or fall back to sleep during the feeding I have tried everything, but all she ever wants to sleep. She is a really lazy sucker I even resorted to pumping and giving her a bottle but it is even hard to get her to suck on that. Do you have any suggestions on getting her to stay awake and eat??

You can dress her down to her diaper too do skin to skin(put her on your chest wuthout clothes). You can change her diaper and do it again. You can try to nbuirp her and try again. Or you can wipe her down with a wet cloth. Some of these thing might make her made but it will be worth it at the end. Hope this helps.

Take off her clothes, tickle her feet...rub her back like along her spine, this will stimulate her to eat. my daughter is a lazy eater and when she was that old i literally had to wake her up every 2 hrs and make her eat..she gained about 10 oz in 5 days when I did this.. just keep trying and dont let her sleep more than 3 hrs without eating until she gains some weight!   I know its stressful, I was there, dont give up!

my son was the same, born 7.15 and down to 6.8 i think the next day. they lose body weight rapidly the first few hours and days outside of the womb.

kloees mommy: just stay on top of the feedings. dont stress about her weight yet, it will start increasing

There are kids that will go more than 2-3 hours without eating? Someone needs to talk to my little girl so I can sleep a little  !
