I took 2 pills 3 times a day.... I never really could tell a difference in my supply and I got tired of smelling like maple syrup without major results, so I quit taking them.

Lol...the maple syrup thing is kinda weird   But i can only get 2-3 oz total and my son eat about 5oz so I've been giving him a couple oz of formula too but I don't want to do that. So I was just see my options of increasing my milk.

never tried fenugreek, almost did, but heard that it can cause hypoglycemia, or worsen the symptoms of people with hypoglycemia(which i have), also heard it causes weight gain b/c you eat more in response to the increased insulin levels. anyways, my doctor prescribed reglin/metaproclamide(?sp) and that works wonders!! after the first day of taking the pills, i was able to pump and pump and pump!!

My milk production slowed downa little this week. My LC said it could be because I have my period. Just in case I went out today and bought some of the fenugreek pills. I took my first two tonight. And I had a beer.I am really hoping that it helps. I have tried letting her nurse as often as possible (she doesn't always cooperate if she isn't hungry) but it just hasn't helped as much as I would like. I know she is getting enough, but sometimes she still acts hungry and I would also like to be able to pump. Right now she eats every hour so pumping isn't really an option because I don't want to take from her.

Any advice that might help?

yay! the pumping 4 times yesterday helped!!! Today I got a total of 14 oz. I'll pump through out the weekend and hopefully, I'll build up enough and she'll never have to have formula again!

it will come back when your period is over, I always feel a little low when I'm on mine... but I haven't ever had to supplement. Plus I wouldn't pump if you dont have to when your on your period because it will make you even more tired...

You ladies that are trying to increase your supply can drink beer, or Non alcoholic beer so you don't have to worry about when not to feed the baby, but eating oatmeal also is supposed to help. I ate it every morning and sometimes mid afternoon too, and made amd ateoatmeal cookies and I've never had a supply problem. Also if you don't have a pump, or even a manual one, I suggest getting one to get yourself back on track and have enough milk. The more often you pump, the more milk you will produce. Even if you don't get that much, it's the frequency of pumping, not how long you pump, although when your breasts are empty, you should make milk faster. It takes about 3 days for your brain to tell your breasts to more milk. If your baby doesn't wake up to need to be fed like every 2-3 hours, make sure you are pumping instead. The more nipple stimulation, the more milk you will produce. Good luck!!!

Keep trying...sometimes milk won't come out as fast from one breast. I have that problem, and sometimes my son fusses, but he gets used to it...it's mostly a problem when he's overtired. If you are too engorged, go ahead and pump to relieve some pressure. Try to see if there's a difference between your breast flow when you pump, like more or less milk comes out of left side. Maybe the milk is coming out too fast when he does latch and that's why he's fussy?

Hey ladies I have a question and it might be a stupid one but I need to know before I go to the store. Can I just leave the breastmilk in the bottle and put it in the freezer, or do I need to go buy freezer bags for it?

I would put it in a bag, a bottle isn't air tight so the milk can get freezer burn and collect pollutants from the freezer air.
